Team, competition, and community

“My son likes basketball the most, followed by football. You said that a Chinese child likes these two sports, which is more disturbing.” Deng Yaping, the world champion of table tennis, “This is said on the show. The performance of China’s basketball and football in major world competitions is indeed a bit “nuisance”. But compared to that, football’s performance seems more disturbing.

How to improve the level of football in China? The country chose to “grab it from the doll.”

In 2015, the Ministry of Education issued the “General Plan for the Reform and Development of China’s Football”, which requires that all efforts be made to promote campus football, the campus football governance system is basically sound, and the campus football governance capability is continuously improved. In the past five years, the Ministry of Education has selected 27,000 school football characteristic schools in 380,000 primary and secondary schools across the country, established 38 campus football reform pilot zones, and deployed 80 “sky-star” training camps. Within the system, compared to other sports, football obviously receives a higher standard of attention.

Besides the system, policies such as the Ministry of Education’s 6 Departments ‘Implementation Opinions on Accelerating the Development of Youth Campus Football, and the Explanation on the Relevant Situation of Football Players’ Joint Mechanism Compensation and Training Compensation, have been issued. However, despite the policy “favor” of football training, most football training institutions on the market are still in a situation of not making money or even losing money. The scarcity of venues, the shortage of teachers, the low unit price of passengers, and the narrow enrollment face have hindered the development of institutions. Among them, people in the industry have realized that teachers and teaching are the core issues, and some institutions have begun to strengthen teacher selection and establish a curriculum system.

Maffei Sports, which we recently came into contact with, is a football training institution that emphasizes standardized teaching and courses.

Founded in 2017, Mai Fei Sports is a football training organization that focuses on team sports-football and focuses on the quality training of young children aged 4-13. Mai Fei Sports is based on professional youth football training courses of professional football clubs such as “French Nice Football Club” and “Phoenix Phoenix Football Club of the United States”. Combined with the European and American quality training concepts and the physical and mental development characteristics of Chinese youths strong> to design a course training system. At present, Mai Fei Sports mainly operates in Shenzhen and Guangzhou, has about 20 teaching points, and has accumulated more than 2,500 students.

Zheng Nanyan, the founder of Mai Fei Sports, believes that sports and education are the same thing. Sports can develop the brain and change the way children think. Based on this concept, Mai Fei Sports strengthened teaching and research and created a quality training system with teamwork and game as the core, specifically:

  • Establish a football teaching and research system, grinding lessons like K12. Every lesson must be prepared in advance, with a clear syllabus and lesson plan. At the same time, they must be taught before the lesson.Practice exercises in advance to implement the course process. After class, the coach will divide into different teaching groups according to the school where they are, review the class’s curriculum, discuss and summarize the areas to be improved.

  • Curriculum is built around the four core qualities of teamwork, psychological quality, insight decision-making, and leadership. At present, Mai Fei’s curriculum system consists of three modules: thematic courses, basic courses and competition courses, forming a specific curriculum system for different age groups of U5, U7, U9, U11, U13.

    Emphasizing

    • Segment the class process, so that students will gain something in each lesson. The point of criticism before football training was “it seems like a child is running on the grass and one lesson is over.” In this regard, in addition to the teaching of basic motor skills, Mai Fei’s classroom also requires thematic and situational storytelling to keep children interested in class, and each class has a certain amount of time for group confrontation and competition. Because in the confrontation and competition, you can see the application of the students in the classroom. At the same time, the competition is also the most exciting part of the child, which can give the child the motivation to continue practicing.

In terms of venues, Mai Fei Sports chooses a community strategy to rent / build venues : Find suitable venues for teaching activities near or within the community. On the one hand, community-based venues are close to consumers, reducing the concerns of parents when they are far away when making decisions. On the other hand, to reduce the difficulty of enrollment, playmates in the same community can directly form classes, which is also convenient for word-of-mouth communication.

On the team, Zheng Nanyan, the founder of Mai Fei Sports, is the founder of Platinum Group (7 Days Hotel); he acquired the Nice Football Club of France in 2016, and invested in the Phoenix Phoenix Football Club of the United States through ASU Advantage Sports in 2018.
