What kind of band is this?
Wu Tiaoren, was formally established in 2008. The founding members Renke and Maotao are from Haifeng, a small city with strong folk customs in Guangdong.
They have lived in an urban village in Guangzhou, have sold mouthpieces and pirated books, and are familiar with the joys and sorrows of low-level people.
Most of their lyrics are derived from their own real experiences, and they sing affectionately about hair salon girls, urban management, young people from small towns…

16 years of PeopleSoft and Amao
In 2009, when the first album “County Towns” was born, the five people who originally played music together were Amao and Nishina. The two teenagers first met at a local original concert in Haifeng. But in order to commemorate the years of the five people, they named the band after the “Five Men”.
Two young people who just made their debut, a piece of “County Town Records” that broke ground, in the Haifeng dialect that most people have never heard of, cut a bloody road in the music scene. It was named “The Only Music of the Year” by Southern Weekend.
They made the lyrics of “County Town Records” into such a cool red book, and by the way, they explained their life experience.
These two seemingly ordinary young people in the county, their life trajectories have exceeded the expectations of ordinary people.
PeopleSoft is carrying Amao on the streets of Haifeng
Amao, born in Haifeng in 1981, was influenced by his brother Maofan. After high school, he mainly listened to rock music. Amao ridiculed himself that “after listening to the college entrance examination, he lost his name in the college entrance examination”, and refused to repeat his studies, so he went to Guangzhou to make a living.
PeopleSoft was born in 1986 in a seaside town called “Jiesheng” next to Haifeng. The family has a karaoke room in the local area, so in the third grade of elementary school, he played and performed on stage. I started playing guitar in junior high school, and when I first encountered domestic indie music at that time, I thought it was really cool!
In 2004, PeopleSoft went to Guangzhou to join Amao.

In 2005, 19-year-old Nishina and 24-year-old Amao came to Shipai Village in Guangzhou. One of them sold mouthpieces and the other sold pirated books.
In that urban village surrounded by high-rise buildings, it is more aggrieved than a narrow rental house. It is probably the hearts of these two young people who only want to make music. In the words of PeopleSoft, “You said you wanted to do indie music, especially in Guangzhou. There is no bright road to it, but a group of you like to play!”
In 2007, PeopleSoft and Amao moved to Guangzhou University Town and began to organizeOwn creation.
In 2014, Wutiao signed a contract with Modern Sky’s label BADHEAD. With an agent, the business is on the right track.

So far, the five people have released 5 studio albums and 2 live albums, which are very productive.
In 2019, Wujoo went to Europe for the first time. The tour and residence in Portugal brought them a lot of freshness and impact. PeopleSoft’s English has also improved a lot. The result of the creation is the latest album “Last night I dreamed that I was wandering again” released in July this year.
The eighth album “Globe” is in preparation.

The favorite of the Guangdong literature and art circle
In the show, PeopleSoft joked that he was “intellectuals don’t fight.” Indeed, besides music, he does not fall into painting or writing novels. Wutiao people have come close to the art circle in Guangdong. Performance artist Hu Xiangqian is a friend of Nishina and Amao who grew up together. Music critic and writer Zhang Xiaozhou, Guangzhou literary benchmark Borges Bookstore owner Chen Tong, woodblock print artist Liu Qingyuan, etc., the seniors also have a preference for Wutiao people, and they are also teachers and friends.
Chen Tong even created “Fantasy Lisa Hair Salon” specially for Wu TiaorenAn album promo. Nishina and Amao play two love-breakers in it, and a girl from the Academy of Fine Arts is hired to play a hair salon girl.
Five or six years ago, the labels given to Wutiaoren by music fans were inseparable from “dialect band” and “folk band”. In fact, with the change of life scenes, the language of Wutiaoren’s lyrics has long since changed from Haifeng dialect. More and more expressions have turned to Mandarin.
If you have to label them now, music critic Zhang Xiaozhou believes that they are: Guangdong Haifeng Daoshan pretty boy, Pearl River Delta blues folk punk, CANTON POP new wave of hot songs, Chinese psychedelic rock and roll specialties…

3. “Dream Lisa Hair Salon” 2016
“Fantasy Lisa Hair Salon” is a homonym called “Mona Lisa Hair Salon” in Shipai Village, Guangzhou. It is about a lie and romantic love story between a worker from the country and a girl in a hair salon.
“I lived in Shipai Village many years ago. Guangzhou’s largest urban village has cheap rents and is in the city center. So many young people come from all over the country to ask for a living. In fast food restaurants, barbecue stalls, and hair salons. In the Tangshui shop, you can often see young pretty girls talking about love there.”

“Fantasy Lisa Hair Salon” is also the name of the fourth album of the Gojos. This album adds bass, and the music level is more full.
Of the 11 songs, 7 are in Mandarin. “Because at this time, many things and stories have already happened in Guangzhou. At this time, you will sing in Haifeng dialect, but you will deliberately.”

4. “Many, Many” 2016
“Many, Many” is about a group of hawker ghosts who have mixed in Guangzhou’s Tianhe and Shipaiqiao areas. They are full of wit. Many of them are friends that Amao and Nishina met when they were walking ghosts.

The song “First Love” originated from the news that Wujoo once saw by chance: It was discovered that First Love was already a wife, and the man drove over the viaduct in grief. They basically took the news stories directly and wrote them into songs.

The protagonist of the story is a small person who has left his hometown and wants to change his destiny by going out to work. Through his efforts, he finally becomes a contractor with an annual income of hundreds of thousands. When he returns home with hope to find his first love, he finds that his long-forgotten lover is married. Up. On the highway back home, the man ran into the viaduct because of excessive sadness. This car accident shattered all his dreams.
Such a tragic story may seem bizarre, but it is just a story about a small person that happened on this land.
