I have mentioned many times in my previous ghost story article that there is a custom in my grandmother’s place. When people encounter accidental death outside, the body cannot be transported into the village. The reason is that it feels like that. The souls of the dead are very resentful, and they are not easy to be overwhelmed and die. After entering the village, they may affect the people in the village.

However, there is also an old Chinese saying “Leaves return to the roots” without talking about the dead. The family members of the deceased actually want the deceased to “go home” and take a look before leaving. Then, how can we help the dead souls of the deceased fulfill this “last long-cherished wish” without breaking the custom? What I’m going to say now…

In the place where my grandmother lives, the most common way for “fairies” and Taoist priests is to carry back the bodies of people who died outside Park in a place far away from the village. (The distance varies from long to short, usually where the corpse is about to be buried). After the corpse is parked, build a simple mourning hall. After washing and changing the clothes for the deceased, press the male left and female right Respectively, on the index finger, tie a cotton thread (that is, the kind of cotton thread used for weaving, a large roll and a tube, and there may also be small rolls of cotton thread for sewing clothes, which must be cotton). “Xianpo” or Taoist priests are pulling the line, pulling it along both sides of the road to the deceased’s house. You cannot walk on the road where people are walking. The line cannot be broken during the pulling. If the line is not long enough, it can be re-connected. You cannot enter from the main entrance, but generally from around the house, find an entrance, or a window, go in, and tie it to a specific place in the house (this specific place needs to be pointed out by “Xian Po”)

After the ties at home are fastened, the “fairy woman” begins to do it, and slowly summons the dead souls of the dead through this cotton thread, and finishes the dead and finally “go home” The long-cherished wish of “confessing to confessing”; it is said that the cotton thread is the only road leading to the home as seen by the dead souls; so in the local area, people walking on the mountain and seeing the cotton thread will go around, if they encounter Or if you accidentally break the cotton thread, it is taboo. It is said that the heavy one will cause the ghost to follow or possess (if the ghost looks at the road… then if the person is standing by and holding it. Does it mean that it is blocking their way.. cold..)

After the ritual is done, usually when the deceased is buried, the cotton thread will be taken back from the original path Go to the place where the corpse is parked, and then bury the deceased together, but there are also local customs. There are many people who are destined to be buried in a year or several months. Then, the cotton thread has been so holding… the locals If you see a cotton thread passing from the grass or the top of a short tree on the roadside or on the mountain… Generally you will be very careful not to approach it.
