A few months ago, we wrote an article about Xianyu scam. At that time, some users commented on “Half of the Internet scams are in Xianyu, and the other half are in 58 same city”:

Recently, the news of 58.com’s delisting has been raging, and there are many messages in the background. I want us to pick up the fancy scams on 58.com.

Speaking of 58.com, I believe that many people’s first impression of it is the advertisement made by Yang Mi 10 years ago: “58.com, a magical website.”

However, after taking a closer look, we found that the current 58 city has already become a magical “thieves’ den”.

1. How wild are the scammers in 58 same city?

It’s not an exaggeration to say that 58.com is a “thieves’ den”. There are everything you can think of and unexpected liars on the market…

1. Living services with a low price on the ground

From the description of 58.com’s official website, we can see that 58.com has positioned itself as a “national life service platform”:

Looking for a job, looking for a house, second-hand car, local life services…

However, from the experience of netizens, 58.com is not like a “national life service platform”, but rather like a “list of national crooks.”

Not long ago, a blogger @苦射射 broke the news about his tragic experience of being trapped in 58 same city.

Due to a computer malfunction, he contacted a computer maintenance staff through 58.com.

As a result, without professionally inspecting the computer, not even repairing the computer, the maintenance personnel actually asked him for an “inspection fee” of 100 yuan and a “home fee” of 50 yuan.

After the blogger refused to pay, the maintenance staff stayed at his house, and it was useless to even call in the property. He also plausibly said, “You can’t leave without the money”:

After the two sides stood in a stalemate for a full 3 hours, the blogger had no choice but to pay 150 yuan. When the maintenance staff left, he looked very proud and looked like a veteran:

There are countless cases of this kind of local service being pitted at 58. For example, Looking for someone to pass the toilet in 58 same city was charged 4800 yuan:

If you find someone to move in 58 same city, you will be charged 800 yuan for less than 1 kilometer, and 1920 yuan for 3 kilometers:

I rented a house in the same city of 58. I saw beautifully decorated and reasonably priced houses. When I arrived at the scene, I found fake pictures and fake houses. There were also many black intermediaries who took the money and ran away directly:

To be honest, although the above situation does not only exist on 58.com, but also on other platforms, but I don’t know if it’s my illusion. It seems that there are too many in 58.com……

2. “Custom scams” for people with low judgment

In addition to the above-mentioned “sit-down price” that everyone may encounter, there are now some people with low discrimination ability in 58 same city (such as blue collar , Student groups) scams are spreading.

① The “factory recruitment” for blue-collar workers

First of all, it is a scam mainly aimed at blue-collar groups who want to find a job, and there are also two kinds of money scams and people scams.

In order to get close to the scammers, I pretended to be a girl with a technical secondary school degree who just came to Shanghai and wanted to work in an electronics factory. I posted a few resumes on 58.com.

As a result, in just 9 minutes, I received 8 calls from 58 same city, and after talking in detail, I found that 6 of them were liars:

The first type is money scams-pretending to be “direct recruitment from the factory” and cheating money in the name of medical examination fees, training fees, and meal card fees.

This kind of liar generally has the following characteristics:

Recruit n positions at a time, and almost the entire recruitment information describes the dormitory environment, and the work content is hardly mentioned. What independent dormitory, air-conditioned, make it like a vacation, suckInvite blue-collar workers to apply:

Once you indicate that you want to go for an interview, he will promise you “went to the package”, even if you have a case, but you have to pay 720 yuan first: physical examination fee 200, meal card Fee 360, accommodation fee 160.

Why am I sure that the above is a liar?

Because after adding their recruiters through a factory’s official website, I found that serious factory direct recruitment, generally the description of the factory is relatively simple, only a brief mention of the working environment and salary, and will not receive early What accommodation fees, meal card fees.

Moreover, the recruitment positions are relatively single, only basic jobs such as general workers or warehouse management are recruited, and there is almost no mixed recruitment of too many positions:

Obviously, those who recruit n positions at once and are still vague about the job content, Obviously, it is a liar who talks about it to “cast the net and fish more.”

The beauty of this scam is that the factory is real, and it is also real that the factory recruits people, but it turns out that people don’t hire the positions mentioned by the intermediary at all, and don’t need to pay.

How widespread is this scam?

On station B, there is even a video of a factory leader who made clarifications on the interview site for this kind of fraud intermediary:

The second type is “liar”-in the name of recruiting “waiters”, but in the end I persuaded you to be a night lady.

Searching for “waiter” on 58 same city, the ads I saw are like this, all of them are very serious:

However, after adding WeChat to understand, some of the good waiters became “nightclubs”, “monthly income of 20,000” is no problem:

The other person is even more of a thief. Before I took a screenshot, I withdrew the message. Only our “serious chat” was left in the dialog box, for fear of being caught by me:

② “Part-time job without threshold” aimed at students

In addition to scammers who specialize in deceiving blue-collar workers, 58.com also has a “part-time job without threshold” specifically for students.

For example, doing part-time model etiquette, part-time reviewing orders, and even part-time typist(What kind of ancient profession is this):

But these seemingly free time, low barriers, and high income occupations are actually scams.

Speaking of recruiting part-time models, you will be required to pay a “model card” ranging from hundreds to thousands. After the filming is over, the staff will ask you to “go back and wait for the announcement” and there will be no more news:

Part-time typist, he said “150 yuan”, but he was blocked after paying the deposit:

Part-time ordering requires you to first take hundreds or thousands of goods, and then the platform will return the commission to you, but in the end it did not return, and the money was caught in this way:

After experiencing it personally, I understand why this kind of stalk is spread on the Internet:

“If you hate someone, put his mobile phone number on 58 same city, and make sure that this number will be blown by scammers.”

Second, in addition to many scammers, there are also official “sorry operations”

In addition to many scammers on the platform, some official operations of 58.com are also very irritating. Not only can they not guarantee the security of user information, but they will also “phone bombard” the merchants and recruiters who use the APP…

1. To users: Information security cannot be guaranteed

Although everyone is now talking about “information leakage”, the efficiency of 58.com’s information leakage still taught me a very vivid and painful lesson.

In order to undercover, I fabricated a resume called “Xiao X” and delivered 3 related positions on 58.com.

As a result, after 1 minute, I received 8 consecutive calls from related companies (most of them were scammers) :

In addition to these 8 calls, some people have called me one after another and called me my little X. As of the time of posting, there are at least 15+…

Wait, didn’t I just submit 3 resumes?

At this moment, I suddenly understood why everyone always said that “ordinary people run naked on the Internet.”

Of course, this is not a case of my experience. I searched on Zhihu and I knew that I was not the only one being harassed:

Not only to submit resumes, but also to see second-hand cars and houses in 58 same city. The risk of information leakage.

As for the reason for the leak, in addition to being maliciously stolen, there is also the suspicion of “official leak”:

Some users broke the news on Weibo that they were harassed by phone calls at least 5 times a day within six months after browsing the house purchase information. Under her constant questioning, the salesperson said that as long as the VIP is opened, the private information of the intended user can be obtained…

Although the authenticity of the above revelation is doubtful, judging from the experience of so many users being harassed, the degree of information leakage in 58.com is really not generally high.

This is the end of the matter, and I can only rejoice that the fake resume contains a small number that can be changed at any time…

2. To businesses: Harassment marketing

Don’t think that this magical platform only pits users, and for businesses, it is not at all merciless.

First of all, if you want to be a business/recruiter in 58 same city, you have to be prepared for crazy harassment:

Because 58.com’s main income comes from paid VIPs, it is not an exaggeration to describe the promotion of VIPs as “crazy”.

For example, telephone sales in 58 same city can rape your ears on time at a frequency of twice a week for 5 consecutive months:

There is even worse, I posted a job offer, and the result was promoted by more than a dozen telephones in the same city as “Top Service” (that is, VIP service):

Even if your ears are soft and you really get gold, you may be frozen for no reason, and of course the money is not refundable:

The paid resume recruited by 58 is even more powerful. A resume for 30 yuan, but I can’t even get through the phone… This kind of operation feels like a self-deprecation, “I can cut one Is an”.

After reading these, I can’t help but sigh, 58 sameIt’s too difficult for users and businesses in the city…

3. How can I defend my rights quickly when I was cheated in 58 same city?

If you were unfortunately deceived when you read this article, then understanding the following rights protection measures against 58 cities can help you recover as much as possible.

1. Request a full refund from the platform

Since I was scammed on 58.com, I must first complain to the platform itself.

Some friends may say, what is the use of complaints, and the business behavior platform does not need to be responsible… If you think this way, you are quite wrong.

When this kind of arbitrary charging occurs and the merchants that provide services are indeed unable to be found afterwards, consumers can find the platform to take responsibility and demand a full refund!

The aforementioned blogger @苦射射, in the end, 58.com contacted him and confirmed the incident, and successfully got the full claim through the official account. (However, 58.com did not handle the request of the blogger to remove the merchant involved)

2. Tips to urge customer service to deal with

Although it is said that 58.com can ask for full compensation, many netizens complained that 58.com responded slowly to complaints, and the manual complaint hotline was often busy. It simply means “no complaints.”

If you want to speed up the processing speed of customer service, On the one hand, you can choose to complain on the black cat complaint:

In addition, during the investigation, I also accidentally discovered that the two official accounts of @”58同城官微” and “58同城Customer Service” directly on Weibo also have miraculous effects, and the response rate is extremely high:< /strong>

I don’t know if I am afraid of being afraid of public opinion fermenting. I found that those with detailed questions and strong tone have basically been dealt with by 58 customer service.

So, if there is no reply to the rights protection, we can also try to contact the customer service on Weibo, maybe the reply is faster than the official complaint channel…

If it is a dispute with the platform, in addition to platform complaints, you can also go directly to the official channel to go to the official website of 12315 or the official APP.The complaint receiving platform itself is a bit slow in processing efficiency, sometimes it takes a month or two to wait.

Maybe you have already discovered that the above strategies are basically aimed at “sit on the ground and start the price” and “platform improper people”.

After all, if you encounter a scam, it is beyond the platform’s capabilities and can only be solved by the police uncle.

Four. Conclusion

To be honest, despite the proliferation of scammers and serious information leakage in 58 same city, as of January 2020, Renjia is still the largest platform in the industry with more than 100 million active users:

However, from what it does, we cannot feel 58.com’s role as a leading Internet company.

On the one hand, in order to survive the impact of vertical platforms such as BOSS direct employment and Shell Rentals, it chose to use its reputation accumulated over the years and massive advertising investment to attack the sinking market:

The Q1 financial report released by 58.com in 2020 shows that sales and marketing expenses accounted for 68% of all expenses.

But what is offensive is that it only pays attention to the 58 city of users, but does not provide users with weak judgments in the sinking market with the protection they deserve-a stricter content review mechanism.

The founder of 58.com, Yao Jinbo, once publicly stated that he was distressed because he was cheated on renting a house, and that he wanted to start a business.

I don’t know if Mr. Yao, who is now worth tens of billions, looks at so many 58 innocent users who have been cheated of hard-earned money. Have you ever thought of yourself who was deceived and angered?
