Instagram has been running independently in the Facebook system for a long time. It seems that all this has to change.

Facebook is ready to take steps to prove it.

From the end of last weekend, if the user opens the Ins app, you can see that the full name of Instagram has become “Instagram from Facebook”.

In fact, Facebook has quietly added “From Facebook” to its social media app Whatsapp and the virtual video app Oculus name.

This happened after Facebook announced on July 12 that the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced a fine of $5 billion for its alleged privacy leak scandal. The second quarter of 2019, published by Facebook on the following day, showed that although its revenue increased by 28% year-on-year, its profit in the quarter fell by 49% due to the FTC’s fine.

To this end, Facebook must take steps to stabilize investors’ expectations for their long-term development. It can be said that from Ins to Whatsapp, the name is followed by “from Facebook”, which has the name of Facebook to enhance its attention, and attempts to further integrate it into the Facebook ecosystem to bring growth expectations.

Facebook acquired Instagram in 2014. For a long time, the latter has been running independently and has received Facebook’s technical and traffic support.

According to Facebook’s earnings data, Facebook’s daily and monthly numbers have slowed from the second quarter of 2017. Facebook’s daily activity was 1.59 billion people, a year-on-year growth rate of 8%. Ins’ daily life has exceeded 500 million in the first quarter of this year, with a year-on-year growth rate of over 20%.

Some Facebook executives, such as Zuckerberg, believe that social media such as Ins and other Facebook-based mergers and acquisitions have already formed a competitive relationship with Facebook itself, diverting some users. So Facebook needs to integrate internally. According to a report by Wired magazine in April this year, Zuckerberg began to cancel Facebook’s traffic support for Instagram last summer, and promoted resource sharing and ecological access between various apps – this is exactly the latter. It was something that Ins was very reluctant to do and led to the departure of the two founders of Instagram in the second half of 2018.

How Facebook will integrate Instagram and the rest of its sub-brands into the company’s ecosystem in the future, the current path is not yet clear. Facebook is this yearEarlier, the office software Workplace (similar to Ali’s nail) was reformed. The main change is the level of fees, in order to bring more benefits to the company.

No matter how Facebook has sworn its ownership of Instagram and expects to bring more benefits through integration, adding a “from Facebook” to social media such as Instagram does not seem to be a suitable approach. For a scandal-ridden, public relations mistakes, companies that have just spent money to settle the issue, this may not be a good time to swear.
