Guangqi Honda’s first pure electric car is here.

On March 10, Guangqi Honda EA6 was officially launched, and the Chinese name “Yile” was announced at the same time. The new car launched two models, priced at 167,800 yuan and 189,800 yuan respectively.

As the first pure electric car of Guangqi Honda, the Guangqi Honda EA6 was developed by the GAC Research Institute. It is based on the GAC Ian S. The exterior and interior have been re-adjusted, while incorporating Honda’s family design elements.

Like the GAC Toyota iA5, the GAC Honda EA6 can be regarded as a model introduced by the GAC Group’s independent sector to the joint venture sector, and its mission is self-evident-to ease the pressure of double points. Although GAC Honda has a variety of hybrid models, pure electric vehicles have always been its weakness. As a big seller of fuel vehicles, in 2019, Guangqi Honda’s new energy vehicle points reached 57,734.

At the 2020 Beijing Auto Show, Honda released the first pure electric concept car Honda SUV e: CONCEPT, but the official did not give a specific timetable when the mass-produced model based on this concept car will be available. In the absence of Honda’s introduction of new energy vehicles, the rapid introduction of a mature electric vehicle to share the policy pressure has become a top priority.

Guangzhou Automobile Group’s Ian S has played this role. Since its listing, Ian S has gradually gained a foothold in the pure electric vehicle market, and the GAC Honda EA6 based on Ian S came into being.

Compared with Ian S, the integrated closed grille of GAC Honda EA6 is larger in size. The shape of the headlight group has been adjusted from T-shaped to boomerang style, and the wind-guiding integrated fog with “L” as the element The lights also give the car a good degree of recognition. The new car adopts a two-color body design with an overall size of 4800*1880*1530mm, while the body size of Aeon S is 4768*1880*1530mm.

Guangqi Honda EA6 has also made partial adjustments to the interior. The dual-spoke multifunction steering wheel, dual 12.3-inch large screens and the semi-surround design of the cockpit have a good sense of technology. In terms of cars, it is also equipped with Tencent’s eco-cars, which supports intelligent language interaction, and also matches the smart car control APP.

In the power system, the new car is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous drive motor with a maximum power of 135kW and a maximum torque of 300N·m. According to the official, NEDC has a range of 510km under comprehensive working conditions and an acceleration of 3.5 seconds from 0-50km/h. At the same time, EA6 is also equipped with a single-pedal driving mode, the user can control the motor drive power and energy recovery power by changing the accelerator pedal opening to achieve acceleration and deceleration.

From a highly competitive market, the positioning of the GAC Honda EA6 as a pure electric car is not easy. Its sister models E’an S, GAC Toyota iA5 and BYD Qin Pro EV are its main competitors, and these models already have a certain mass base. Although it has the brand endorsement of Guangqi Honda, the starting price of the Guangqi Honda EA6 is nearly 30,000 yuan more expensive than the Ian S, and it also has the brand LOGO of Guangzhou Ian. Can the Guangqi Honda EA6 be recognized by the market?
