Will the “car fever” continue to spread?

On April 12, DJI officially launched its intelligent driving business brand “DJI Automotive”, and announced that it will release related products at the Shanghai Auto Show, which opens on the 19th of this month.

According to the official WeChat account, DJI Automotive will “focus on the R&D, production, and sales of intelligent driving systems and their core components.” In other words, DJI’s involvement in the automotive industry this time is not to build complete vehicles, but to provide car companies with pre-installation mass production business of different levels of autonomous driving functions through software and hardware product solutions.

It is reported that DJI has been in the automotive field for five years, and there are currently more than 700 people in the DJI automotive team. Livox, a subsidiary incubated by DJI, has also explored in-vehicle lidar for autonomous driving.

Previously, Lanwo Technology claimed that with DJI’s production and procurement advantages, the mass production capacity of vehicle-mounted LiDAR could reach 100,000, and the price was increased from 10,000 yuan to 1,000 yuan. The upcoming Xiaopeng P5 will also be equipped with a customized version of the car-level lidar produced by Livox.

In the field of Tier1, companies such as Huawei and Baidu have already entered the market before DJI. The “2020-2021 ADAS and Autonomous Driving Tier1 Supplier Research Report” published by Zoath Automotive shows that compared with the development model of Tier 1 at home and abroad, the current emerging Tier 1 represented by Huawei, its cooperation model directly penetrates into OEMs. , In-depth participation in product research and development, positioning itself as Tier 0.5.

Take Huawei as an example. At the beginning of the development of BAIC ARCFOX models, Huawei directly participated in the research and development of many system functions of the vehicle, including intelligent driving, intelligent cockpit, and intelligent electric.

At the upcoming Shanghai Auto Show, the first Huawei HI standard car ARCFOX αS HBT will also be officially unveiled.
