After 10 years, a large tomb that covers an area of nearly two standard football fields and has a depth of more than 20 meters has finally been excavated.

What is chilling is that there are 247 stolen holes in this tomb. The earliest burglary can be traced back to the Han Dynasty until the Tang, Song and Ming and Qing Dynasties. It can be seen that since ancient times, the phenomenon of tombs in China has been very embarrassing.

Qin Gong No.1 Tomb

Fortunately, although large bronzes have been stolen, more than 3,500 precious artifacts have been unearthed. However, this is only a rare example. Many ancient tombs in history have been stolen.

Although we have heard all kinds of superb anti-theft techniques, it is difficult to stop the tomb. After all, it is too difficult for the ancients to confront the ever-changing iterative tomb technology.

02

However, not all of the graves can escape the robbery of the robbers.

In 1950, archaeologists discovered a high-standard tomb in the Warring States Period in Huixian County, Henan Province. It is recognized that this is also likely to be a grave. Because the tombs are built on the sides of the diverticulum and adjacent to the tombs, the walls are filled with fine sand.

The difference is that the sand has not been able to keep the tomb. The tomb thief stole most of the funerary objects in the tomb without triggering the accumulation of sand, and severely damaged the tomb.

Sand graves

In addition to the graves of the sand, the anti-theft tomb techniques commonly used by the ancients include the poisonous substances in the arrows, swords, iron thorns, etc. in the graves, and even people directly apply the poisons to the bodies or funeral objects. Caused a terrible “corpse poison.”

It is also set up with a hidden device such as a machine, a fire, a poisonous smoke, etc., in order to resist the robbers. With the passage of time, most of these mechanical manufacturing are prone to rust failure and do not work.

Of course the best way isLet the robbers not enter the tomb, so some of them will set up doubts and illusions to hide the position of the cemetery; and the stone walls will be built for reinforcement.

As the saying goes, the road is one foot high and one foot high. These methods do not seem to block the pace of the robbers, but they are constantly evolving and improving the techniques of robbery.

03

In a sense, robbery is also a social and cultural phenomenon. The ancients regarded the death as a result of the belief that led to the thick burial, and the thick burial also derived countless tomb thieves. According to historical records, as early as the Western Zhou Dynasty more than 2,770 years ago, some people dug out the jade seal from the ancient tomb, perhaps it is this inconspicuous event that opened the tomb of the tomb.

The tomb thief in the Changsha area of Hunan Province is also known as the “Tufuzi”. Its original meaning refers to the manual laborers who dig yellow mud for sale, and then gradually turned into a tomb thief because they dig into treasures.

All along, the most traditional method of tomb robbing is to dig the length of the pirate hole to cover two rafts, then straight down.

When you dig a person to a high depth, you will dig two horseshoe-shaped foot points on both sides of the pirate hole to step on the foot, and raise the shovel in the hole with your hands. When you dig down, you will use the ladder.

So, how deep is the pirate hole to dig? This depends on the depth of the cemetery. Generally speaking, the tomb thief will also play another burglary hole deeper than the tomb, in order to facilitate the handling of the soil that was hit by the pirate hole.

Is it possible to dig into the tomb to steal property? Of course not, experienced robbers tend to lead the dog to avoid being injured by the hidden weapon in the tomb. This is also why it is useless to say that the hidden weapon set by the former tomb master before the life. Occasionally, the novices will hurt themselves and even the tragic ending of death.

Similarly, experienced tomb thieves have a higher success rate in stealing treasures. If the oysters are still well preserved, they cut them with an axe, shovel chisel, and even climbed into the chamber to touch the artifacts.

When the cultural relics are touched, the tomb thief usually touches the head of the deceased and finally reaches the foot. Because of the ancient habit of blocking the seven scorpions with jade, the thieves will not let go of the seven shackles of the deceased.

If the cockroach has been spoiled, the tomb is also explored in the mud with a bamboo stick, and no small property is allowed. In this way, the owner of the tomb is really helpless to the tomb thief, and they can only be allowed to steal.

04

From the long-term archaeological excavation, we will still find many tomb thieves who died in the pirate hole. They are actually not killed by the anti-theft organs set up by the ancients, but they may die from work mistakes. Insufficient oxygen, such as poor ventilation, or poorly dug holes, leading to landslides.

There is also a possibility that someone is not good, and the companion is poisoned. The tombs are usually committed by gangs, at least three people together. Such a person digs a hole, a person clears the soil, and sometimes there is a person looking at the wind, at most, when they are tired, they change jobs.

In an era when technology is relatively underdeveloped, people under the hole will pass on their work and pass on their belongings. Then they will pat the palm or pull the rope and signal the person at the hole to pull him up. Imagine if the people at the hole had moved greed, and when the people in the cave came up quickly, they would loose the rope and the people under the hole would fall again.

At this time, the people at the entrance of the cave quickly bury the pits that were put up under the cave, and the people below will die. Therefore, in the past, the tomb team paid attention to the inheritance of generations and did not easily steal the tomb with outsiders.

However, with the development of the times, the methods, techniques, and tools used by today’s robbers are more group, intelligent, and modern.

The locations where they detect the tombs will use military compasses, infrared detectors; detonators, explosives, and chainsaws for excavation; cars, motorcycles, and mobile phones equipped with GPS will be used to transport stolen treasures. Therefore, the speed of pirate is faster, but the destructiveness of cultural relics is naturally greater. In addition, the tools used by modern robbers are beyond the imagination of humans.

For example, an ancient tomb in Nanjing was stolen, and the archaeologists who arrived at the scene almost stunned the chin. The tomb of this ancient tomb is about 100 square meters and is about 10 meters deep. After the test: the tools of this group of tombs are actually excavators. The owner of the tomb of this ancient tomb is expected to open the coffin board to teach them.

The owners of the ancient tombs are most afraid today.Yes, those new “tomb thieves” who have participated in archaeological operations in the past. Many times when the archaeological team excavated, they used local migrant workers and taught them to use drilling and excavation techniques. Ironically, some of them, after mastering the technology, can’t help but succumb to the temptation of interest and take the risk of stealing the tomb.

Many people mistakenly believe that archaeology and robbery are the difference between holding an official license, but their processes and purposes are different. More importantly, China’s current archaeological work rarely voluntarily explores tombs, mainly for rescue exploration and excavation, especially before construction. This is the greatest protection for the tomb.

For example, when Xi’an repaired the subway, the netizens also specially edited the paragraph: “The city is full of graves, Xi’an repairs the subway, and the busiest is the cultural relics bureau.” In addition, they often follow the tombs. Help them clean up the mess.

Although it is difficult to deal with advanced tomb techniques in the millennium tombs, modern law will give severe punishment to the tomb thieves. The so-called Skynet is restored, not leaking, and the tomb thief in reality always has the day of the arrest.

The unfortunately stolen masters of the tomb will continue to be fair to them.
