In addition, the increase in education level and working hours have a negative effect on sleep time.

At present, there is no related research in China. According to the results of the “2018 National Time Utilization Survey Bulletin”, the average sleep time of men is 556 minutes and that of women is 562 minutes. The sleep time of women is slightly higher than that of men. However, there are significant differences between men and women in paid and unpaid work. For paid labor, the average time for males is 315 minutes, and for women 215 minutes. For unpaid labor, it is 92 minutes for men and 228 minutes for women. Among them, women spend three times as much time on housework and caring for their families as men. This shows that our country’s situation is basically in line with the differences in time distribution caused by the gender inequality revealed in the previous study.

Whether American men sleep shorter than women, or Japanese or Korean men sleep longer than women, the differences in them all reflect the role of gender roles and gender inequality in daily life. Behind the high satisfaction of men in marriage is the silent contribution of his wife. Therefore, in order to have a happy family life, the husband and wife should have more exchanges, more understanding and more help. Comparatively speaking, men should pay attention to women’s unpaid work such as housework and care: a clean environment, delicious dinner does not come out of thin air, but someone is paying silently. To this end, the American writer Eve Rodsky has given a large number of couples in a recently published book “Fair Play”, a game called Fair Play, by making housework cards and extracting task cards to complete the corresponding housework activities . In this way, the equality of housework between the two parties is promoted, which is conducive to the harmonious development of family relations. Interested friends can refer to the following task card to practice it.

In fact, apart from gender differences, sleep time is more affected by employment status than gender, and sleep time decreases as paid work time increases. Unemployed people sleep much longer than those who are employed. The average sleep time of people who work for eight hours or more is reduced by 102 minutes compared to those without work. Under the same employment conditions, the difference in sleep time between men and women is small. Burgard’s research also shows that men’s participation in paid labor (62.3%) is significantly higher than women’s (48.5%) , which will also affect the difference in sleep time between men and women. In general, the biggest enemy that affects people’s sleep time comes from excessive and uncontrolled overtime, and excessive leisure (all night playing mobile phones, playing games, etc.) > Especially for young people, it is easy to overlook the importance of sleep for health.

A large number of medical studies have shown that staying up late and disordered work and rest can not only cause cognitive decline, but also increase the risk of cancer. Therefore, the premise of a happy life is to sleep for 8 hours and develop a regular schedule. I said this to the editor and to the majority of salt fans.
