New energy vehicles sales have fallen for the first time in 10 years and remain cautiously optimistic in 2020

The China Automobile Industry Association (hereinafter referred to as the “Automotive Association”) recently released the 2019 annual automobile production and sales data. In 2019, the production and sales of new energy vehicles completed 1.242 million and 1.206 million, down 2.3% and 4% respectively. This is also the first time in 10 years of vigorous promotion that the annual production and sales data of new energy vehicles have fallen.

Although new energy vehicles currently account for about 5% of China’s overall automotive market sales, they have been regarded as a bright spot in the cold winter. Sales in the first six months of last year have maintained year-on-year growth. New energy vehicles did not sell well in the second half of the year. According to Chen Shihua, deputy secretary general of the China Automobile Association, it was mainly affected by the following factors.
