Learned , Indian online audio startup Kuku FM announced on Thursday that it has officially completed a $ 5.5 million Series A round of financing, led by Vertex Ventures, a subsidiary of Temasek Holdings. Capital, 3One4 Capital and India Quotient followed suit.

According to KrASIA , three months before this round of financing, Kuku FM had just completed an undisclosed round of financing, and all of the above investors participated.

Kuku FM was founded in 2018 and is headquartered in Mumbai, India. Founded by Lal Chand Bisu, Vikas Goyal and Vinod Kumar Meena, it is positioned as a dialect podcast platform.

According to relevant statistics , there are 1,652 languages ​​and dialects in India. Among them, the number of speakers exceeds 100. There are 33 kinds of Wanda, with obvious local characteristics, which also makes it difficult for the Indian market to apply many paths of Chinese entrepreneurship. Kuku FM started with Hindi content and gradually expanded to more dialect types of audio content. In November last year , Fufu plans to launch 23 dialects of India in the blog. More than 1,000 bloggers on the platform have produced more than 2100 podcasts. According to KrASIA , currently there are more than 3,000 bloggers on the platform, and the audio content exceeds 5,000 hours, involving personal growth, novels, mythology and religion, inspirational, meditation and other content.

Kuku FM said that this round of financing will be used to support content output and marketing for more than 3,000 creators. KukuFM also plans to introduce more talents this year, and support a variety of dialects from Hindi to other native languages ​​such as Telugu, Bengali, Marathi, and Gujarati. In addition, Kuku FM also plans to work with professional radio host to produce novel-related audio content with publishing agencies.
