Today, Wen Yuan Zhixing WeRide and Wen Yuan Yuexing jointly released the first trial report of the Robo-Taxi L4 self-driving taxi. Wenyuan Yuexing is a joint venture established by Wenyuan Zhixing WeRide, Guangzhou Baiyun Taxi Group Co., Ltd. and Science City (Guangzhou) Investment Group Co., Ltd.
The report states that the first month of trial operation of Wenyuan Yuexing, that is, December 01 to 31, 2019, completed a total of 8396 travel orders (accounting for 62% of the total number of orders placed by the citizen’s WeRide Go APP), with zero security incidents. With an average daily travel service of 270.8 times, there are a maximum of 438 orders per day, with a total mileage of 41,140 kilometers of service orders, serving a total of 4,683 users.
Wenyuan Yuexing opened the Robo-Taxi trial operation service in Guangzhou from the end of November 2019. The operation scope covers the urban open road of 144.65 square kilometers in Huangpu District of Guangzhou and the central area of Guangzhou Development Zone. The only Robo-Taxi service that is fully open to the public. Citizens only need to download the ride-hailing app WeRide Go, and they can call and use without application and review.
The report states that the operation time of Robo-Taxi of Wenyuan Yuexing is from Monday to Sunday, 8 am to 10 pm. Judging from the average number of orders in each operating period in December, the peak demand for morning and evening commute peaks. An individual user calls an average of 1.8 times a day, and each order serves an average of 4.9 kilometers. For comparison, the average service mileage of a traditional taxi leased by Baiyun in December was 7.17 kilometers. Robo-Taxi only provides services within the scope of electronic fences. There are no long-distance orders such as high-speed and airport, which is close to the normal operation level of traditional taxis.
