Flexible screen is not a new word. From the first time I heard this term, it could have been almost as long as a child can grow to soy sauce. However, when a folding-screen mobile phone that could be mass-produced was finally made last year, the whole person still felt heated.

But are the new forms created by flexible screens only curved screens and folding screens? Today, CNet issued a set of renderings of the new TCL machine, which indicates that we will not only be able to see folding screen phones in the future, but also a new type of mobile phone with a flexible screen may come soon.

To put it simply, the TLC mobile phone in development uses a stretch-out screen instead of a screen that is bent into two parts like the Galaxy Fold or Motorola RAZR.

But they do have a lot of similarities. Essentially, the screens are spatially stacked for a larger viewing area. The TCL phone also looks more like a standard phone in its normal state, but it will immediately turn into a small tablet after pulling out the screen.

In fact, this stretch-and-slide screen has been exposed by a patent figure before. On December 23, 2019, this patent of TCL was included in the WIPO Global Design Database. The patent description is not very clear and detailed, but is accompanied by four patent design drawings.

We had a great chance to see this new form of flexible screen mobile phone at MWC 2020, but due to the epidemic, this year’s MWC 2020 will be cancelled directly, so there is no such a worldwide stage, and many innovative devices are exposed. Have to find another time.

From the currently released renderings, the TCL phone uses a continuous screen, with curved screens on both sides, and the front camera in the upper right corner of the screen. There is a not-so-obvious breakpoint above the camera. Here you can pull the phone apart like a slide-out dining table, which can significantly increase the viewing area of the screen.

However, it is unclear the internal structure design of this phone. A reasonable guess is that part of the flexible screen is hidden behind the other part. Of course, this stretched structure will also increase the thickness of the fuselage. It is not known whether it has advantages compared to existing folding screen mobile phones.

From the back, you can see that the design is obviously stretched from two-stage to three-stage. There is a dividing line on the right side of the back camera, which is the part that extends from the inside. You can also see The extruded part is slightly smaller than the shell and is nested inside. According to CNet, the back material is not glass.

There is no doubt that this design is attractive from the renderings. It has a more technological sense than a simple folding screen, and it also targets mobile phone and tablet form changes. It may be thinner and lighter than existing folding screen phones, and it may not have the problem of creases.

But before seeing the real machine, this reverie may be a bit too beautiful and taken for granted. Not only the ease of use and durability, including the protective material of the screen surface, etc. are also unclear issues. In short, Be curious first, and we’ll learn more when TCL is finally revealed.
