In April, FAW-Volkswagen sales returned to the growth track.

On May 9, FAW-Volkswagen released April sales data. The company’s sales in April reached 165,700 units, a year-on-year increase of 9.9%. According to data released by SAIC, SAIC Volkswagen sold 120,100 vehicles in April. If there are no accidents, FAW-Volkswagen will continue to lead the passenger car market.

In terms of specific brands, the sales of the three brands of FAW-Volkswagen’s low, medium and high brands have rebounded synchronously. The Jetta brand sold 13,500 vehicles in April, an increase of 45.2%; the Volkswagen brand sold 96,300 vehicles in April, an increase of 42.5%; the Audi brand sold 55,800 vehicles in April, an increase of 38%.

Volkswagen Group Management Board Chairman Herbert Diss said recently on social platforms that in April this year, Volkswagen ’s sales in the Chinese market exceeded the same period last year, and its market share increased by 1.7% to 21%. Feng Sihan, CEO of Volkswagen Group (China), expects that sales in 2020 will not fall too far from the plan for the beginning of the year.

April is the starting point of the V-shaped reversal in the Chinese auto market. The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers expects that sales in April will increase by 0.9% year-on-year. Earlier this year, FAW-Volkswagen made a judgment on the Chinese passenger car market that it has “bottomed out and is about to rebound”, and set an annual sales target of 2.325 million vehicles. Among them, the Volkswagen brand’s 2020 sales target is 1.425 million units; the Jetta brand sales target is 200,000 units; the Audi brand sales target is 700,000 units.

As of the end of April, FAW-Volkswagen had cumulative sales of 502,800 vehicles in 2020, which achieved 21.62% of the annual target. At present, the production bases of FAW-Volkswagen Qingdao, Foshan, Changchun, Chengdu and Tianjin have been restoredWork resumes production. The China Automobile Dealers Association expects that auto consumption will officially enter a recovery period in mid-to-late May.

To seize the demand for car purchases released in the second quarter, FAW-Volkswagen continues to advance its product offensive. In April this year, FAW-Volkswagen released the first new energy SUV Tan Yue GTE and a new generation of Audi Q7. According to the plan, in 2020, the FAW-Volkswagen Volkswagen brand will launch five new cars, including Tan Yue GTE, a new generation of golf, mid-term facelift Volkswagen CC and Volkswagen CC Shooting Brake.

Full year, FAW-Volkswagen’s SUV models will continue to remain strong. Although the new-generation Audi Q7, which was launched recently, is a mid-term facelift model, it has undergone major changes in the interior and has specifically created a third-row seat space for the Chinese market, trying to be as luxurious as the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE. Large and medium-sized SUV models grab a larger market share.
