On the other hand, investment and financing events in the field of children’s programming have also achieved substantial growth in recent years.

In order to cultivate the technological competitiveness of our young people, children’s programming education has quietly become popular in recent years. In January 2020, the Ministry of Education issued the “Strong Foundation Plan” to cancel the independent enrollment of colleges and universities and launch a new talent training program, of which up to 40% are related to programming. In December, the Ministry of Education introduced the progress of the work in terms of “incorporating programming education into relevant courses of primary and secondary schools” and “training and training teachers who can implement programming education.” This echoing one after the other has clearly demonstrated the country’s current emphasis on programming education.

According to the data of enterprises, there are currently 653 enterprises related to “children’s programming” in operation/existing in my country. There were 97 newly registered enterprises in 2018, 255 in 2019, and 190 in 2020. At present, there are not many companies specializing in children’s programming in China, and they are concentrated in economically developed areas. The three provinces of Guangdong (144), Zhejiang (146), and Jiangsu (54) have the largest number of related companies.

On the other hand, investment and financing events in the field of children’s programming have also achieved substantial growth in recent years. A few days ago, Qicha Big Data Research Institute released the “Report on Children’s Programming Investment and Financing Data in the Past Ten Years”, taking you to find out from the capital level.

1. There were 105 financing incidents in the past ten years, and the total financing amount disclosed was nearly 4.6 billion yuan

In 2012, “Makeblock”, the main STEAM education solution, received a seed round of funding of US$100,000, opening the journey of children’s programming track capital.

According to the data from the company, the number of financing for children’s programming projects reached 33 in 2018, the highest peak in history. In 2020, the disclosed financing amount of children’s programming project was 1.797 billion yuan, the highest in history. Overall, there were 105 industry financing incidents in the past ten years, and the total amount of financing disclosed was nearly 4.6 billion yuan.

From the financing rounds in the past ten years, there were 51 angel/seed financing events, accounting for 48.6%. There were 27 financing events from Pre-A to A+ rounds, accounting for 25.7%.

It is worth noting that the children’s programming projects before 2019 were basically concentrated in the angel/seed round, Pre-A to A+ rounds, and the situation has changed in 2020, with a significant reduction in early projects, and financing above the C round, strategic Financing increased, and the first M&A event occurred (Sanqi Mutual Entertainment’s acquisition of Miaoxiaocheng Programming). In the children’s programming track in 2020, capital has found projects worth adding, and new projects are still pouring in. All this indicates that the first round of reshuffle in the industry is about to begin.
