The cat eyes that have been losing money for more than six years are now finally profitable.

On the evening of August 15, Cat Eye Entertainment, which was listed in Hong Kong for half a year, released its interim results report as of June 30, 2019. According to the financial report, in the first half of 2019, Cat Eye achieved a revenue of 1.98 billion yuan, an increase of 4.7% over the same period of last year; net profit was 380 million yuan, compared with a loss of 20.6 million yuan in the same period last year.

Cateye Entertainment has four main businesses, online ticketing, entertainment content services (involving movie announcements and productions), entertainment e-commerce (mainly refers to food and beverages sold with movie tickets, etc.) and advertising services. The first two businesses contributed a total of 88% of total revenue.

In the first half of the year, the number of Chinese box office and movie attendants dropped by 2.7% and 10.3%, respectively, which drastically reduced the revenue of Cat’s main online ticketing business by 5.7%.
