If you want to see the truest colors of a place, go to its police station.

For example, Gan Changzhan, a police officer from the Daqiuzhuang Police Station, can feel the changes brought about by the epidemic through his nose-because of the suspension of work and production, the air in this “steel meal” town has less odor. What the police in the duty room felt is that recently, due to strict inspections on the prevention and control checkpoints, there have been fewer cases of burglary and theft of electric vehicles, which are mainly committed by fleeing crimes.

Like the 54,000 grassroots police stations across the country, there are always some details here that connect the nerves of the smallest parts of society.

one

Daqiuzhuang, located in Jinghai District, Tianjin, is the earliest “billion-yuan village” in China. At its peak, the number of migrant workers was four times that of local villagers. For a long time, most of the police here are related to the migrant population. The 30 policemen from the police station are in charge of public security here.

Even in a town with a registered population of only more than 40,000, maintaining law and order is a tedious task.

Gan Changzhan, born in 1986, has worked in the Daqiuzhuang Police Station for 8 years and led a team of 8 people.

He has been on duty at the police station on New Year’s Eve for 5 consecutive years. This year’s New Year’s Eve is Gan Changzhan’s birthday in the solar calendar. He deliberately ordered takeout and bought seafood, but half of the police on duty in the team did not eat a bite. They are busy patrolling the checkpoints and participating in the prevention and control of the epidemic.

Before entering the Daqiuzhuang police station, Gan Changzhan had never set foot here.

He knows very little about the history of Daqiuzhuang. He only knows that this township, 25 kilometers away from his home, is economically developed and people are very active. So when he first came to work in Daqiuzhuang, he reminded himself to be cautious in his words and deeds.

This situation is common among the police in the police station. Of these 30 policemen, 14 are under 30 years old, 29 university graduates.

For most of the young policemen born in the 90s, the various police situations they face are far from their previous lives.

Zi Maoshuai, born in 1995, majored in Public Security Information Science with a bachelor’s degree. He has studied various theories of counter-terrorism intelligence, but he has not learned how to deal with family conflicts.

Once, when only Mao Shuai came out of the police, he encountered a couple quarreling, and both of them admitted that they had cheated in front of him, and both asked him to detain the other half. He had to pretend that he was married and sat on the kang and started talking with the couple.

The police station receives one or two alarms caused by family conflicts every week. A husband once reported to the police that his face was scratched by his wife’s nails. Yang Bingshuai, who was born in 1990, persuaded him that he was scratched by his wife many times at home. The elders can’t get through with this. In fact, he hasn’t found the other half yet.

The number of police trips has increased, and many police officers have summed up their own experiences. Zhi Maoshuai said, If the husband and wife are concerned about the future of their children, and the two have no intention of separating, he will persuade them to make peace; if the two quarrel every day and have begun to calculate the property control after the divorce, he will persuade them to divide.

And Gan Changzhan concluded, When mediating disputes, make the other party feel close. For example, in the face of some social idlers, he firstIf you scold a few swear words, the other party will think that the policeman is not pretending, and when you make sense, the other party will think that the policeman is doing him good.

The domestic violence he has dealt with are minor injuries, which are within the scope of mediation. He would pull his wife aside first, act as a gentle listener, listen to his wife’s heart, then call the husband, and severely criticize the husband in front of his wife. If the words are harsh and the husband is not happy, he will have to come back properly, “You are also very hard, the work is not easy”.

This set does not apply to one’s own family conflicts. When his parents complained that he was busy at work and couldn’t take care of his home, he grinned and quickly admitted his mistakes, cautiously coaxing, and admitted that he was at a loss.

When he first entered the industry, Gan Changzhan also had a period when he did not dare to speak. When he was a student, he was the one who listened to others and laughed.

Compared to humans, he prefers to deal with computers and machines. He graduated from Shandong University with a major in automation and had the opportunity to go to Japan to engage in professional counterparts, but he is an only child and his parents live in rural areas, so he decided to return to Tianjin to work.

He thinks the police is a handsome profession. This cognition stems from the fact that when he was a child, he and his companions played the game of “police catching the thief”, always striving to be a policeman.

For female police officer Liu Lianlian, the reasons for choosing the police are very practical. There are many police positions and the chances of getting admitted are relatively high. It is a stable job.

As a community police officer, she is in charge of two streets in Daqiuzhuang Town. When patrolling, she will go to the KTV, pedicure shop, and bathing place on the street to check. Her parents were worried about her going into and out of entertainment venues, and they would always tell her not to offend people.

Liu Lianlian will also encounter moments that make herself feel satisfied. An old man in his 70s or 80s wanted to ask the police station to prove that the ID number on his account book was wrong, because it did not match the number on the passbook, and he could not withdraw money. In order to prove, the old man rode a bicycle to toss between the police station and the bank three times.

Liu Lianlian finally drove him to the bank to coordinate the matter. The bank promised to help the elderly withdraw money and modify the ID number on the passbook. Sitting in the passenger seat, the old man saluted and thanked her repeatedly. “I felt the pride of wearing this police uniform at that time.”

And after two years in the industry, Gan Changzhan ushered in his self-identification for this job. In 2014, he was responsible for investigating a suspected case of provoking quarrels. The suspect disappeared and only one video was left. If he wants to chase and escape online, he must first verify the exact identity of the suspect. He went to learn from the criminal police of Jinghai Branch, learned the latest video recognition technology, and then went to witnesses to identify the suspects one by one.

After finishing this case, he increased his confidence and began to treat the work of the police station as a series of math and physics problems, “must be done.”

Gan Changzhan, who took off his police uniform, went to the restaurant in Daqiuzhuang for dinner, and someone often greeted him affectionately. Sometimes, Gan Changzhan can’t remember who the other party is.

Last year’s Father’s Day, the kindergarten recorded a video for each child, and all dads in the class were invited to watch it live. When the 6-year-old daughter appeared on the other side of the screen, she introduced to everyone, “My father is a policeman, he will catch thieves, he often works overtime and rarely can accompany me”.

“My father is very good. He can help me make ice cream at home, make drinks for me, and decorate the princess room for me.” The daughter continued. Sitting there, Gan Changzhan felt a confident sense of professional pride, although the gratification brought by his daughter’s words could not completely eliminate the less guilt of accompanying the child.
