BYD semi-annual report: car sales are growing against the trend, battery business is optimistic

In the car market “cold winter”, BYD handed over a brilliant transcript. On August 21, BYD released its semi-annual report for 2019. The company achieved revenue of 62.184 billion yuan in the first half of the year, up 14.84% year-on-year; net profit was 1.455 billion yuan, up 203.61% year-on-year. However, compared with the growth rate of 632% in the first quarter of this year, net profit has slowed down remarkably, and the slowdown in future growth will continue. BYD expects net profit for the first three quarters of 2019 to be 15.55-17.55 billion yuan, an increase of 1.83%-14.93% year-on-year.

In the environment under pressure in the entire automotive market, BYD’s car sales in the first half of the year increased against the trend. According to the report, BYD sold a total of 228,100 vehicles in the first half of 2019, a year-on-year increase of 1.59%. Among them, the total sales of new energy vehicles totaled 145,700 units, a year-on-year increase of 94.5%, leading the growth rate of 49.6% in the new energy automobile industry. According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, BYD’s market share in the field of new energy vehicles has increased from 20% in the same period last year to 24%.
