Daniel, a data collection engineer at Google Maps, said that this is all the data that Google Maps needs. Digital Globe’s entire database also includes some remote islands in the central ocean, satellite imagery in some sparsely populated areas of Africa, Australia and Antarctica, and even in the Sahara Desert, for a total of approximately 80 million square kilometers. But for Google Maps, from the perspective of cost performance, it is not necessary to buy this part of the satellite image.

Page and Sergey insisted that the team buy the entire database, which made both Daniel and John stunned.
