Pork price increases, can't blame African pigs

2019, the Year of the Pig, is supposed to be the year of the “Golden Pig Baby”, but it has been robbed of the pork in the market.

Since the Spring Festival this year, the “incitement” of China’s pork market has not stopped, especially since August, pork prices have been leaping forward. The data shows that compared with the low point at the end of January (10.8 yuan / kg), the average price of live pigs on August 20 reached 24.4 yuan / kg, an increase of more than 125%; the average price of pork in 22 major provinces and cities is also 18.54 Yuan/kg rose to 36.05 yuan/kg, and the increase almost doubled.

Correspondingly, the retail price of pork in the local market has hit record highs. Typical, such as the Guangdong and Guangxi regions, pork has been sold for 25 to 30 yuan a pound; Beijing, Shanghai, Shandong and other places are also not too much. Because of this, the price hike of pork has become the focus of attention of the whole people. Many people lament: “There are rich people who can afford pork now.”

In fact, in recent years, the ups and downs of pork prices have been eccentric, and the dramas of “high price hurts people and prices hurt farmers” are frequently staged. Like the previous times, the reason why this round of pig prices continues to rise is because of the shortage of pig supply. In addition to the factors such as the sow production cycle and the depletion caused by the previous loss, the post-effect of African piglets is also superimposed— – These have been repeatedly discussed by industry insiders and will not be repeated.

However, the piglet or the “pig cycle” does not seem to explain all the phenomena, such as the following three questions:

(1) Why is the price of pork in China so frequent?

(2) Why is the pork market’s ability to withstand external shocks not strong?

(3) How do ordinary farmers always find it difficult to raise pigs?

In the end, you can’t blame everything for objective reasons. One may be accidental, but if it is troublesome after two or three, we need to reflect on it: Is there a problem in the industry itself?

Raising pigs is a technical job, and it’s not as simple as feeding pigs to kill meat. The whole process is complicated, involving feed, feeding, breeding, circulation, slaughtering, processing and many other links. They are interlocking together to form the so-called pig industry chain.

Hog, can be understood as a living pig, which is not
