On March 23, the National Development and Reform Commission issued the “Medium and Long-Term Plan for the Development of the Hydrogen Energy Industry (2021-2035)” (hereinafter referred to as the “Plan”) and held a press conference. At the meeting, a reporter from the News (www.thepaper.cn) asked: What is the current situation of the infrastructure construction of my country’s domestic hydrogen energy industry? What will be the next step to promote infrastructure construction?

In this regard, Wang Xiang, deputy director of the High Technology Department of the National Development and Reform Commission, said that infrastructure construction is an important guarantee for the development of the hydrogen energy industry. The energy industry infrastructure is developing rapidly, but from the level, there is still a certain gap with the international advanced level. The next step will be in accordance with the requirements of the “Plan” to strengthen overall planning and promote the construction of domestic hydrogen energy infrastructure.

For specific measures, Wang Xiang talked about three aspects:

First, the hydrogen production facilities should be arranged according to local conditions .

The second is to steadily build a hydrogen energy storage and transportation system, emphasize the principle of safety and control, support the exploration and practice of various storage and transportation methods, and gradually build high-density, lightweight , low-cost and diversified hydrogen energy storage and transportation system. In terms of high-pressure gaseous storage and transportation, we are committed to improving storage and transportation efficiency, reducing storage and transportation costs, and improving the level of commercialization. In terms of low-temperature liquid hydrogen storage and transportation, we must actively promote industrialized development methods. The application of cold, high pressure, and organic liquid hydrogen storage methods.

The third is the overall planning of the hydrogen refueling network. Emphasize demand orientation, coordinate the layout and construction of hydrogen refueling stations, and promote the construction of hydrogen refueling networks in an orderly manner. On the premise of ensuring safety, land resources will be used sparingly and intensively, and the conventional facilities of existing refueling and refueling stations should be used in accordance with laws and regulations to rebuild and expand hydrogen refueling stations.
