In August, the number of shopping centers in the country remained stable.

According to the Winners Network, in August 2019, there were 21 shopping malls nationwide, with a total commercial volume of about 2.09 million square meters. Compared with the number in July, the number decreased by 6 and the volume decreased by only 170,000 square meters. From the data of the same period in the past three years, the number of operations has been relatively stable. The opening volume decreased by 230,000 square meters compared to August 2017, an increase of 390,000 square meters from August 2018.

In addition, in August, Foshan Nanhai Tianhe City (first opening in August 2015) and Inner Mongolia Wuyuan Deli Baihui (first opening in January 2018) reopened, due to the opening time in recent years. Avoid duplicate statistics here without counting new areas.

01The opening of the Southwest is the first in the country

In terms of the opening of the region, there was a greater volatility in August than in the previous period.

First of all, East China has always occupied the top in terms of quantity and volume. In August, it started with 7 projects, ranking first, but the opening volume was 640,000 square meters, ranking second in the Southwest.

The Southwest District is the largest area with a total volume of 768,000 square meters. The number of operations is 5, which is second only to East China. There are a number of large-volume projects in the southwestern region. The three projects have a volume of over 100,000 square meters, of which Guiyang China Railway·Modu Entertainment Park has a volume of 360,000 square meters.

The opening of the Northeast Region in August is worthy of attention. It ranks third with the number of openings in South China, and each of them has three projects, of which the Northeast has a capacity of 339,000 square meters, surpassing the 180,000 square meters in South China.

02Shanghai has no new opening projects, second-tier cities account for nearly half of the total

From the perspective of urban distribution:

  • The four first-tier cities, only one new project in Beijing and Guangzhou;

  • There are no new projects in Shanghai and Shenzhen. It is worth noting that this is the first time in Shanghai that there is no new project in the month. It is rare.
