I hope to give you some motivation

This is probably the most common urban disease in modern society.

A lot of people generally understand: What is a good life like? To have a big goal, then split it into small goals, move toward the goal every day, look at your progress and growth, and turn it into a sense of accomplishment and motivation – right?

But the problem is: For many people, the “target” piece has already hit the wall:

I know that I have a goal, but I just don’t know what I want to do. I feel that I can’t be interested in everything. I don’t have the motivation. What should I do?

This problem has been heard over and over again in different people over the past few years.

Interestingly, not only young people who have just graduated for two or three years, but many people around the age of 30 have the same problems.

For example, in the first-tier cities, the income is ok, but every day, 996, after work, both physically and mentally exhausted. I also thought about having my own life, but I have been lacking motivation. The weekend is to watch the drama, to pass the time, and then start the cycle of the new week.

Or, in a small city in the third line, guarding a boring and leisurely position, there is no worry about food and clothing, but life is also unchanged, flat and monotonous. I want to have some changes, but I am limited to the circle around me, I don’t know where to start.

Moreover, if you struggle to the age of 30, you will start a career, and your child will pass the stage of needing people. If you want to start your own business, you will find that you can’t find a direction. It’s not difficult, but you don’t know what you like. What do you want to do…

A lot of times, what we lack may not be the driving force for continuous progress, and it is a gentle step from 0 to 1.

So, how do you find the direction of interest and take the first step from scratch?

This is a big question, not an article can solve it. But I hope that today’s sharing can give you some inspiration and take this first step for you, providing a little motivation.

Is not interested in anything, what should I do?

In fact, from the very beginning of human beings, we naturally pre-installed a “power system.”

This system ensures that we can survive in the natural world of strong enemies and take the initiative to go in..

This is of course a good thing, but on the other hand, it will also produce a result: Our “reward system” is beginning to feel at a loss.

It’s a bit hard to understand the world.

Is not interested in anything, what should I do?

We can broadly categorize the reward system into two categories: endogenous and exogenous.

You are hungry, do a meal, and finish, very comfortable. Here, on the one hand, you meet the needs of “hunger”. On the other hand, you have paid a “cooking” process that requires energy. Since the result is good, the reward system is activated, so that the brain affirms the process – — So, you will have a sense of accomplishment, satisfaction and pleasure.

This is an endogenous stimulus. Invest in action, earn revenue, get rewards, and strengthen action — This is the state in which the reward system works.

Now, consider another situation: you are hungry and place an order on the takeaway APP. Meals are there, and eating is equally comfortable. But in this process, you have not paid any labor and no practical action. Then, the reward system will be confused:

What should I reward?

In this case, we also met the demand for hunger, but we were missing satisfaction.

So, over time, our brains will create demand: to get satisfaction from other places to fill this gap. This is a compensatory effect.

But the trick is: our life is too convenient, any behavior is very simple, the brain can not find a rewardable goal.

So, it can only turn to the outside to seek excitement and satisfaction.

In this case, information flow, entertainment programs, games, and brain power consumption products under various modern social systems have emerged.

They massage our brains, providing instant feedback, mission, freshness, harvest, superiority, social identity and affirmation…

This is “external stimulation.”

In short, in the absence of endogenous stimuli, the brain turns to exogenous stimuli to release dopamine and activate the reward circuit.

This model, in turn, reduces our motivation to gain “endogenous stimuli” and increases the propensity for “exogenous stimuli.”

After all, when the threshold is raised, it takes a lot of action to do something very troublesome, in exchange for a low return, in the eyes of the brain, it is a thing that is not worth the candle..

So, I often say: Create, don’t consume. Why? It is because the process of creation constantly stimulates “endogenous stimulation” and helps the brain keep the reward system in a healthy state.

Over-consumption will only force the brain to find external stimuli and fall into a vicious circle.

Is not interested in anything, what should I do?

This is the internal cause of many people who are “not interested in anything.”

Many people have a misconception: I believe that interest is born. There are thousands of activities in the world. What I have to do is to find “things that I am interested in” from inside and then do it.

Not really.

This kind of thinking is a deep-rooted misunderstanding with “the other half of the ideal in the world, I want to find him.”

Your interest in something is not born, but in the process of contact and in-depth, slowly learn and “generate” (generated).

In short, what is the impact of interest? Two factors: First, your personality, including traits, values, and so on; second, rewards and incentives. The former determines which areas are prone to tend to you, and the latter determines whether this tendency can become an interest.

Many people think that we are because we like something and then we are good at it. Actually not. Most of the time, we only like it because we happen to be good at one thing and get inner and outer affirmation.

It’s just that because this process is often unconsciously and subtly, it’s hard to detect it.

In combination with this, we can make a profile:

Why are we not interested in everything? In general, there are several reasons:

  1. The living standards of most people are not bad, at least not to the extent that they have eaten up and down, so there is a lack of motivation to explore and advance from the root;

  2. In the past, these people tend to follow the rules and follow the traditional education and examination models, so they can rarely discover what they are good at and what they like.

  3. Based on the first two points, plus our life is too convenient, endogenous stimuli are insufficient, and external stimuli are far overloaded. So, they are used to getting rewards from external stimuli, thus inhibiting endogenous sources. The motivation to stimulate. CauseA huge obstacle to “action.”

Some friends may say: Although life is very convenient, there is still work. Why can’t work become a source of accomplishment and satisfaction and activate endogenous stimulation?

This question is very good. Some people are ok. But with the exception of a few lucky ones, most people’s work often has one feature: involuntary.

The work of most people is probably not what they want, and it is difficult to control the content, methods and rhythm of their work. You are forced to work overtime when you don’t want to work overtime. You are forced to revise your work and even be incomprehensible. You are forced to meet the requirements of your boss and clients and act according to their instructions…

In this case, work becomes a burden, not a reward.

The method of discriminating is very simple: ask yourself, when you go to work every day, you are full of fighting spirit and enthusiasm, or you are reluctant, you can.

So good work is not necessarily a high-paying job, but a job that you are good at, interested in, consistent in goals, have a sense of mission and value, and are responsible for it.

Similarly, it can only be a source of your happiness when you explore things out of your will.

Is not interested in anything, what should I do?

So, for the three reasons mentioned above, what methods can help us to discover and generate interest?

Share a few simple ways. Of course, the most fundamental thing is action. Be aware of this first, then let yourself go and don’t think too much. Try to get feedback from your actions and become your driving force for continued progress.

1. Do some simple things yourself

What is the most important organ in human evolution? Of course, it is the hand used to transform the environment.

Therefore, in all the organs of our body, the brain neurons corresponding to the hands are the most abundant (followed by the oral cavity).

This is a two-way path. On the one hand, the brain can give various instructions to the opponent, so that each piece of fine muscles can make extremely fine movements; on the other hand, the touch of the hand is the most sensitive, and can obtain extremely weak information and then pass it to the brain.

Therefore, hands-on (literally, hands-on) is a very effective way to exercise and activate the brain. It can cause a more intense reaction in the brain.

So why is life so convenient, and some people still like to do things? It is because, by doing something, it can bring full fun and a sense of accomplishment.

I often propose to friends with similar puzzles to do some simple manual activities. For example: cooking, baking, painting, sewing, assembling models, hand-washing coffee, doing hand accounts… to produce some results, let yourself see your progress, which can help you find happiness quickly.

Like me, I am fine with coffee, but I don’t really like coffee, just to enjoy the fun.

(mainly handicapped, others can’t do it)

You don’t have to pursue perfection, you don’t have to be too demanding on yourself. Just liberating yourself from the front of electronic products and using your hands to perceive and experience the world is an obvious improvement.

2. Try to solve the problem yourself

Many people’s thinking is “pursuing efficiency.” To get the best results in the shortest possible time and with the shortest path. Therefore, when they encounter problems, they often choose to reach out to the party and let others help make decisions.

This is not a good habit.

Sometimes, spend more time deliberately doing something “troublesome”, would be better.

Have a chestnut. The same is to ask others, the problem of reaching out to the party is: I now have two offers A and B, which one should I choose?

The initiative of the initiative is: first think about what I need most now, and then compare the two offers, what they can provide, what risks, and which benefits. Here, what information is not yet known to me, I will try to search for it first. Can’t find it or it’s hard to be sure, then ask someone for advice.

The former asks an open question: “What should I do?” The latter asks a specific question: “What I am missing is a message. Can you tell me this information?”

The same is true at other times. Hands-on search, brainstorming, distinguishing information reliability, comparing advantages and disadvantages and benefit costs, planning and executing, monitoring and rethinking at any time, considering multiple alternatives and trying to put into practice – these behaviors are very troublesome, but can be for you Continue to produce a sense of accomplishment.

Start the reward system with endogenous stimuli. The most critical thing is that you have to pay.

When you pay, the reward system can “reward” your efforts, strengthen your behavior, prepare for the next problem… form a virtuous circle.

Appropriate redundancy is necessary. It is the support of the system’s robustness.

3. Enhance the diversity of life

Many people who fall into “interests of interest” often have one of the most critical problems: their lifestyle is too narrow.

Repeat the same way of life, work style, day after dayMake your own daily plans to complete some small, low-cost, everyday things and turn it into a sense of daily life.

The specific can be set according to your actual situation. Like scoring for each day of your own, filling out templated logs, walking, meditating, being alone in a daze… all right. The point is to turn them into your own, with your personal style, untouchable, independent of all work and schedules.

What is the definition of “ceremony”? It is something that has no practical effect but is given extraordinary meaning.

The point is that this “useless use” is the value of the ritual – I spend time doing something “useless” and completely under my control, it means I have control and autonomy in life.

Do an analogy: Why are rich people willing to buy luxury goods? Because the premium of luxury goods is basically “useless”, but the willingness to spend money on this “useless” is the manifestation of wealth and status of the rich.

Why do people need a sense of ritual? The reason is this.

It can’t directly help you to reward the reward circuit, but it can help you find your inner peace, pull you out of busy, crowded trivia, and let you feel the existence of “self”, so that you can find life. significance.

After all, interest or goal, they are just means, the core is to be passionate about life, to find the meaning and value of life, isn’t it?
