Digitize and standardize commercial vehicle maintenance

Editor: Jamie

According to the transportation network report, the current domestic commercial vehicle inventory is about 40 million, of which nearly 80% is a logistics vehicle. As the competition on the logistics track gradually becomes the Red Sea, the commercial vehicle aftermarket has become a new hot spot. In the narrow sense, the commercial vehicle aftermarket is the maintenance market, with a market size of around 600 billion, of which maintenance costs account for 30-40%.

Common Rail Home was established in 2014 to provide online technical support, offline intelligent maintenance equipment and big data online diagnostic services for commercial vehicle maintenance. At present, the number of registered users of the “Common Rail Home” APP in the technical support community is 400,000, accounting for 67% of the maintenance workers in the whole industry, and the intelligent maintenance equipment repairs 160,000 vehicles per month.

The commercial vehicle has a higher maintenance frequency and customer unit price than the passenger car due to its production data attributes. The annual maintenance amount is as high as 20,000-30,000 yuan/unit. The maintenance scene is mainly in the small and medium-sized repair stations of 200,000 commercial vehicles nationwide. The number of these small and medium-sized repair stations is generally 3-6, the scale is small and the level of workers is uneven.

With the upgrading of electromechanical and hydraulic integration and the upgrading of emission standards, the difficulty of maintenance continues to rise, and relevant technical guidance and support have become just needed by workers.

In addition, traditional commercial vehicle maintenance equipment is backward, mainly relying on manual judgment, low standardization and difficulty in forming economies of scale.

The Common Rail Home has just started from the technical support of maintenance workers and developed a complete online commercial vehicle maintenance technical service platform. The platform has a million-level knowledge base, accumulated 170,000 fault cases, and provides online one-to-one remote diagnostic services for the actual needs of workers, and deep empowers maintenance workers through the knowledge payment model.

At the same time, in order to improve the standardization of the entire maintenance process, the Common Rail House has also researched the full scene intelligent maintenance equipment, including in-store equipment and on-board equipment. The in-store equipment can locate the vehicle fault with one button, and the on-board device captures the data in real time while the car is traveling. The device is interconnected with the cloud database in real time during use, and the maintenance process can be synchronized in real time and online. The common rail standardization of the commercial vehicle maintenance process is realized by online, digital and intelligent devices.

In addition to being a maintenance tool, the device is also an important source of data. Up to now, the common rail home smart equipment has accumulated 136 million maintenance fault data, and its on-board equipment has accumulated a total of 2.2 billion vehicle operation data.

Based on massive data and corresponding big data processing capabilities, the common track developed a cloud intelligent diagnosis system. The main application scenarios are:

1) The maintenance side, its intelligent diagnosis product “Xiaoyun Master” can replace the manual judgment of the fault type, and the judgment result that the labor takes about 72 minutes to complete in one second. Currently covering more than 100 kinds of faults;

2) The main engine factory has a clear trend of vehicle networking. The common rail home can assist the main engine factory to build a car association system and provide data consulting services based on professional data interpretation capabilities. Currently, it has served 6 or 7 major OEM customers;

3) Logistics fleet, commercial vehicle users are constantly being enterpriseized. Currently, the fleet accounts for 15% in the market. It is estimated that the fleet will account for 60% in 2025. Enterprise users pay more attention to the entire fleet’s operating cycle and maintenance costs. In other words, monitoring vehicle usage and implementing predictive maintenance are the main demands of the team. The Common Rail Home has created a prevention system combining software and hardware for logistics enterprises, providing enterprises with operational service systems to achieve maintenance. Currently, it has served 5 logistics companies.

The company’s main sources of profit include knowledge-based services such as remote diagnostics, hardware sales, and cloud diagnostics. The remote diagnostic service charges 300 yuan / year, paying users close to 50,000 people; hardware sales average price of 15,000 yuan, has sold 32,000 units; cloud diagnostic products “Xiao Yun master” charges far less than the repair station Senior workers earn about 15,000 yuan/month.

In 2018, the company’s revenue was nearly 100 million yuan, of which hardware sales accounted for 80%. In the future, the company will focus on expanding its data services. It is estimated that data services revenue will reach 40% in 2020.

Common-track home cuts into the market through multiple data, and builds commercial vehicle maintenance data. It aims to build a commercial vehicle after-market industry Internet to promote the industrial upgrading of the entire commercial vehicle aftermarket. In addition, the common rail believes that commercial vehicle maintenance will be more inclined to B2B mode in the future, and the network level of maintenance stations will gradually increase. The company has already reached a cooperation with a listed auto parts company, and through the output of standardized technology and operation management, jointly build the brand of offline chain repair station.

Founder Cai Jiye worked for 11 years at Bosch China R&D Center. He is a Boss global SL2 level common rail electronic control system technical expert and quality management expert. COO Cai Xu was a farmer’s B2B platform.The Harvester and Hornet taxis are members of the founding team, and the team genetically integrates commercial vehicles and Internet technologies.

The company completed three rounds of financing in 2018. The investors include Biochem Capital, Yulin Capital and Cybertron Investment, and have now opened Series B financing.
