Ingolstadt on the Danube River is a small city with a population of only 130,000 in southeastern Germany. But in the automotive industry, the name of the city is not unfamiliar, and the headquarters of the well-known car brand Audi is located here.

In September 2019, the third Sino-German Automobile Conference was held in Ingolstadt. German auto companies such as Audi and BMW are gathered here with auto industry players from companies such as Weilai, Chery and Horizon in China.

As the host, Alexander Seitz, director of the Audi Group responsible for finance, legal and Chinese operations, attended the conference. It is worth noting that at this conference, Setz also thanked Audi’s three Chinese partners – Horizon, China Mobile, and Huawei.

In the field of autonomous driving, Audi’s progress in recent years is obvious to all. Although it is difficult to achieve commercialization due to national laws and regulations, the 2019 Audi A8 is still regarded by the industry as a global production model for L3 autopilot. The realization of autonomous driving technology requires a lot of research and development and pre-verification tests. Audi’s L4-level automatic driving road test in Wuxi has laid a solid foundation for the high-level automatic driving in China.
