My name is Drakeet and I work at Microsoft. Amateur independent developer, independently won the pea pod design award and the Xiaomi Jinmi Award, is the author of pure writing, pure coding and other applications.
Pure writing recently launched the desktop version, what new features?
Pure writing recently provided its desktop version 0.1, which supports real-time connection between the computer and the phone, and instantly edits the current article content. After the user uses it, the feedback is “just like direct screencasting.”
It allows the content edited by the user on the computer to be displayed on the phone in real time, and even the cursor position and selected content are synchronized in real time.

How did you come up with such an app?
One day at the end of June 2017, after experiencing various text loss events caused by other editor applications, and experiencing all kinds of unsatisfactory and rough writing products, I decided to develop such a place anytime, anywhere. Able to get a sense of writing and to actually design from the author’s point of view.
Before this, I was responsible for developing a new editor for the “Inter-line” application in my spare time.
At that time, we spent a lot of effort on the rich text editor. Although we didn’t realize the high-performance rich text editor we were satisfied with on Android, I invented many unique and useful ones in the process. Technology, these techniques are more than enough to develop a pure text editor.
So pure writing was born, it was originally developed to satisfy my personal pursuit of a never-missing and secure writing experience.
Where do you think pure writing is easy to use?
Pure writing provides a lot of useful functions in writing assistance, such as the “Quick Input Bar” that works with the input method. Users can customize shortcut phrases, common words, and unlimited words and counts. . In addition, pure writing also provides “spelling check” and “formatting tools”, which can help users automatically insert spaces between Chinese and English, automatically insert indents at the beginning of the paragraph, and so on.

What is the biggest challenge in the development process?

What do you mean for you to continue your development in your spare time?
My main business is developing Outlook at Microsoft. I love my job. It gives me basic financial support and stable spare time.
I like reading books since I was a child. Before I was in college, I never thought of becoming a programmer. I dreamed of becoming a novelist like Haruki Murakami. The result was very helpless. I don’t have a good talent. However, I still love this thing and try it all the time. And programming is a thing that is both good at me and creative at the same time as writing, so I am very obsessed with it.
So I can create a work that I have used and that many users love. This is like my dream. I think pure writing is one of my “works”, not just ” product”.
What is the difference between working in a large company and developing an app independently?

Independent development of applications is very different from that in large companies. For individuals, they need to take on more roles. What opportunities and challenges do you think exist in the current App market?
The domestic application store fragmentation is very serious, users can not have a system-level account and unified payment channels; for independent developers, Huawei App Store does not even allow applications with paid content to be put on the shelves.
Such, in fact, independent developers are still very difficult in China, but the overall income from domestic users is two or three times the income of users in all foreign countries. It can be said that the domestic market has always been a big market. .
How do you judge your strengths and integrate with the industry?
My programming skills are completely self-learning, and I am not a computer professional, but I still entered Ali and the current company Microsoft through social recruitment, including in the process of being an independent developer, this road has gone very smoothly. There is hardly any encounter with the past, and perhaps this is a feeling of “doing your own strengths or possessing talents.”

Pure writing is developed by you alone. What is the motivation for you to stick to it?
Pure writing is an application that I developed and formed before I joined Microsoft. It has been insanely developed for more than two years, and it has spent almost all of my spare time. Every moment I think about how to do it better.
For me, it’s more of an idealistic work for me. Although it doesn’t bring me a lot of income, many users tell me every day that they like this app very much. This is my biggest motivation.
I think one day it really can be called “great”, this is a long road that needs to move forward every day.
I have participated in many ventures and know that many times the injection of external capital or the introduction of more collaborators – in the end, may lead to the demise of the product, because once the investment is accepted, it may be capitalized. Around, there will be a lot of revenue pressure, you need to constantly consider creating returns, business realization, and you need to recruit teams and partners, but most of the time you can only find rough people to ruin the product, write the code No one can take over and be difficult to maintain afterwards… So for pure writing, I insist on doing everything completely, we can go not so fast, but pursue excellence and keep improving.
