Poor, chaotic, The huge profits and the concentration of gray capital may be the impression of most Chinese people on Cambodia.

But in fact, with the Belt and Road, especially the joint enforcement of China and Cambodia, the overseas Chinese rivers and lakes began to shuffle in 2018. In the torrent of the new economy in Cambodia, the e-commerce industry has developed particularly rapidly.

March 2019 On the 29th, the launching ceremony of the China-Cambodia Law Enforcement Cooperation Year was officially held in Beijing, and the China-Cambodia joint law enforcement entered the formal stage.

The author once went to Cambodia for travel and work, so he met several Cambodian local friends and some Chinese friends who started business in Cambodia.

Next, we will look at Cambodia’s current e-commerce picture from the C side through four respondents from different backgrounds.

Respondent A: Siem Reap local taxi driver Wenshan

This father-in-law driver shared that people around him rarely use online shopping because the problem of online fakes in Cambodia is very serious.

He has only bought two things on Facebook and has never used APP shopping. The only two shopping experiences made him very depressed and never trusted online shopping.

One time he ordered 2 watches, the photos look very handsome, and the children’s watches that have been found to be several yards smaller are like this – is this picture familiar with the development of Chinese e-commerce?

In the early days of China’s e-commerce, except for the variety of online goods, most people “put into the pit” because online prices are cheaper than offline. However, in the eyes of Wenshan, the products on the Cambodian line are not all cheaper than the offline, in addition toInconvenience of payment and transportation.

In Siem Reap, goods are not delivered to the door, but to some collection sites, buyers go to pick up themselves, and some places do not support delivery. But fortunately, intercity traffic is convenient, Cambodia’s land is not vast, cross-city transactions as long as you can deliver, wait 1-2 days to be delivered.

In addition to using Facebook to shop, he mentioned that another app is very popular in Cambodia. This Khmer24 app is similar to the domestic 58 city. In addition to the rental, transportation, maintenance, pets, catering and other services, users can also publish their own product information, leaving contact information to facilitate trading. And these goods, there are second-hand goods, there are also new goods specifically for trading.

When asked if he knew about China’s e-commerce platform, he quickly replied: “Alibaba, taobao”, but they can only browse the goods and cannot buy them. Because the Cambodian bank account cannot be traded on these two platforms, it is not possible to apply for Alipay, because only the account of the Bank of China can apply for Alipay account.

Although the winds of Alipay and WeChat have been blowing for a long time, according to Wenshan, the Chinese who are working and traveling abroad are using these convenient electronic payment products.

Wing and Ture Money used by locals have been linked to some online platforms, but there is a lack of head payment institutions, online payment still needs to be integrated.

Respondent B: Chinese Media Entrepreneur Q in Phnom Penh

Q is a former colleague of the author. In about one year in Phnom Penh, there are both Chinese colleagues and local Cambodian colleagues.

He has never used Cambodia’s online platform, but there are roughly two types of understanding. One is the purchasing platform, which is used to purchase things on Taobao, such as the famous Leda.com. The second category is the real Cambodian domestic platform, such as Little Fashion.

Compared with Cambodian e-commerce, the purchasing platform is rich in goods and less fakes, so the surrounding colleagues use Leda to purchase Taobao. I bought all kinds of things like Xiaomi camera, Xiaomi charging treasure, socket, key ring, car cushion and so on.

Leda The disadvantage lies in logistics – it takes 7-10 days from China to go to the gateway, count the customs clearance time, plus Cambodia’s domestic logistics, a courier can wait until the first half of the month to get it.
