Future Auto Daily (ID: auto-time) was informed that the new SGS model of GAC Chuanqi, the new generation GS4, will be officially launched on November 15.
This is the third new model launched by GAC in a year since the second MPV model GM6 was launched at the beginning of this year and the new generation GA6 was launched on August 23.
In addition to the price, GAC Chuanqi official has disclosed the product information of the new generation GS4. The powertrain is equipped with a 1.5T engine code-named 270T, which matches one from Aisin. The 6AT transmission completely eliminates the dual clutch transmission of the previous generation and ensures the core product strength. In terms of intelligence, the new-generation GS4 is also equipped with the same ADuGO Wisdom Connected Ecosystem as the Aion brand of GAC New Energy, including the officially-installed WeChat on the world’s first launch.
The previous generation of GS4 has sold more than 1.11 million units in more than four years. As a brand-name model, it directly changed the sales structure of GAC Group’s own brands and joint venture brands, making GAC a rare maintenance. As one of the car companies with balanced development of joint ventures and independent brands, GAC Group has a relatively optimistic attitude towards the sales prospects of the new generation GS4.
In January-October this year, Guangzhou Automobile Group sold a total of 1.68 million new vehicles, down 4.4% year-on-year. In the case of the two joint ventures of GAC Toyota and Guangzhou Automobile Honda, the sales volume of GAC Chuanqi was maintained. It was 307,000 vehicles, a year-on-year decline of more than 30%. GAC Chuanqi urgently needs a model that can drive its sales growth.
The listing of Chuanqi GS4 means that the product matrix of GAC Chuanqi has basically completed the “new”. The number of GS4 baseboard users is huge, which can provide more power in sales. Today, the only suspense is the price, if GAC Chuanqi can make a reasonable price, thanIf the price of the previous generation is maintained, the GAC Chuanqi will be able to gain more shares in the current relatively sluggish market.
