Perhaps because there is a small shop downstairs in my house that just covers the wind and the rain. Some walking drummers always like to sit here at noon, knocking on the drums, and setting up a broken hat, expecting passers-by to throw a few coins in.
My friends told me that “drumming at a certain time is a certain religion.” These daily drums sounded in the afternoon, accompanied by the chirping birds, and the chattering sounds of young people sitting under the tree with their legs rocking not far away, as if announcing the departure of the earthquake and the return of peaceful life .
Christmas and New Year’s Day are coming. In the evening when traveling with colleagues, a huge Christmas tree has been erected on the downtown square, and the surrounding hot drinks and amusement facilities have been put in place. Adults and children will enjoy it.
In a country without a legal religion, mosques stand next to Orthodox churches. Muslim students who believe in Islam, and Christian students who believe in Catholicism often ignore the differences in their beliefs, have dinner together, have fun, and travel happily.
At the same time, they can’t wait to celebrate every festival with a wide range of influences. From Christmas, Easter to Catholic and Orthodox, to Eid and Eid al-Adha, they are their official holidays. And for me, a Chinese teacher who does not have any religion, they also report infinite tolerance.
2019 is coming to an end. It’s great to see that this country, which has just experienced disaster, can come out of grief so quickly. Use their usual optimism and enthusiasm to welcome the coming New Year.
