1. Buy a mask at four in the morning

On January 21, 2020, on the 27th of the second lunar month, our family started the journey home. The direct train ticket from Guangzhou to his hometown in the south of Fujian has not been seized. We can only transfer from Shenzhen. I used to do this often, except it was a little bit more troublesome. However, this year’s situation is a little different. The pneumonia outbreak from Wuhan has just spread to Guangdong and is mainly in Shenzhen.

The website of the National Health and Medical Commission will update the latest data of the epidemic every day. Prior to January 21, it was the Wuhan Municipal Health and Medical Commission’s report on pneumonia of new coronavirus infection. Beginning on the 21st, the national epidemic situation will be notified. On the 19th, the National Health and Medical Commission confirmed the first confirmed case of pneumonia imported from Guangdong with a new coronavirus infection and resided in Shenzhen. As of the 20th, the night before our departure, 4 provinces across the country have reported an epidemic (Confirmed) : Hubei, Beijing, Guangdong, and Shanghai, of which Guangdong 14 cases are from HubeiThe provinces with the largest number of confirmed cases outside the country, and Guangdong’s confirmed cases are mainly distributed in Shenzhen (9 cases) .

Because I want to sleep with my baby, I fall asleep very early every day, and then get up to work the next morning. At 4 am on the 21st, I got up as usual to wash, and found that my wife sent me a message at night, so I must get up quickly and buy a mask, because we will leave for our home at 8:30 in the morning.

Where do I buy masks at four in the morning?

Fortunately, there are 24-hour shops and riders who have not yet returned to the New Year. I searched around with my mobile phone and found that only one store nearby had masks for sale at this time. I immediately placed an order and finally received the masks at more than five in the morning. Luck is also really good. As soon as we go home, Shenzhen has become the city with the worst outbreak in Guangdong, and we have to stay and transit in the densely populated Shenzhen North Railway Station. No way, this is the first time in my life to wear a mask.

Shenzhen’s transit and all the way to the car, except for the occasional wailing and crying of the little baby, but also went smoothly. Most people in stations and trains wear masks. It also looks like a routine business. Everyone still talks and laughs, creating a happy atmosphere for the New Year.

2. The epidemic seems to be far away

My hometown in southern Fujian is a small county with a small population. In the past few years, I was mainly engaged in agriculture. In recent years, I have been engaged in industry and the land has been developed. Not far from our home, there are new factories that provide a lot of employment opportunities for the surrounding farmers. According to fellow villagers, the government has requisitioned all the peasants’ land. As a supplement, the government has allocated funds to build a small park in our natural village and supported the villagers in various ways to rebuild temples and theaters in the park.

For the villagers, the park is not the key. The focus is on the temples and the stage. Of course, the temples are the top priority. In order to build a temple, the Natural Village formed a council in 2015 and raised funds everywhere.Donate and hire engineering team. In 2017, the temple was completed. It is said that the magical power was manifested that year. The dozen or so babies born in the whole natural village in that year were all male. Of course my mother is also very happy. Her grandson was also born that year. She was already devout, and after having her grandson, she became more diligent.

It was the afternoon when I returned to my hometown, and no information was received from confirmed cases in Fujian. The villagers were happy to prepare for the New Year. No one wore a mask. A neighbor Uncle told me that there should be no epidemic in Fujian, with a proud expression of “We are the best in Fujian”.

The second day, the 22nd, the twenty-eighth lunar month. The bad news still came, the National Health and Health Commission confirmed the first confirmed case of pneumonia imported from Fujian Province with a new type of coronavirus infection. Today’s information is developed. Anyone who holds a mobile phone or broadcasts news at home will soon know the news. But the fellows were calmer than I thought. They said that it happened in Fuzhou; relatives and friends in Fuzhou said that it happened in Lianjiang County below. The outbreak seems far from everyone’s life.

The twenty-ninth day of the second lunar month. The epidemic situation came to southern Fujian, with a total of 2 cases. Some fellows started to pay attention to this, and told me vividly that there was an example in a township not far away. As of 14:00 on the 24th, Fujian Province has reported a total of 10 confirmed cases of pneumonia due to a new coronavirus infection, which is indeed relatively small compared to Hubei Province. Probably few villagers will go to check what level of Fujian’s epidemic is in the country. For them, only two pieces of information are crucial: first, from a micro perspective, there are no relatives or friends around People are infected with the epidemic. Second, from a macro perspective, it seems that Fujian Province is not as serious as Hubei, and everyone only compares Hubei or Wuhan.

3. Who is most worried about the epidemic?

So, from the perspective of the fellows around me, there doesn’t seem to be much tension overall. Of course, different age groups feel different.

In the village, I have more contacts with middle-aged and older people.
