This article comes from WeChat public account: LinkedIn (ID: LinkedIn-China) , author: Anthea, original title: “the epidemic in how to find a job? Can you change jobs? We invite 2 senior HR to answer your questions

A few days ago a reader left a message: I just resigned a year ago and I am going to change jobs after the New Year, but everything is disrupted by the new crown pneumonia, but I still have to pay the rent if my income is broken. What should I do?

An epidemic not only threatens human lives, but also endangers many people’s livelihoods.

A friend prepared to change jobs a few years ago, and has entered the final scene. However, he has recently asked about the situation. The other party just dragged on, and never mentioned the follow-up of the interview.

Students who have a recent term are also in a dilemma.

The company signing the offer requires someone to go to Beijing, but the colleges and universities in Beijing do not allow students to return to school. At this time, it is obviously unrealistic to rent a house off-campus, and it is difficult to find a promising internship.

In a special period, companies as large as Sibe and as small as everyone in the workplace are small drops in this wave of epidemics.

What will happen to the workplace in 2020? How should ordinary people adjust themselves to seize opportunities?

We interviewed HRD Joyce and recruitment director Connie of LinkedIn, and raised n questions that everyone is generally concerned about. I hope to help you.

1. Posts will be adjusted, recruitment peaks will not be absent but will be late

“This year’s peak recruitment period will be delayed,” said Connie, LinkedIn’s head of talent recruitment.

But every company needs to reorganize the recruitment positions and recruitment process. It is not to not recruit, but to wait.

What to comb?

First is the position and its number.

Joyce said that in general, a company’s hiring position depends on two variables: The first is the turnover rate, and the second is the economic decision of the company.

The birth of new posts often depends on the latter.

At this stage, many companies are facing survival issues.

If the blueprint corresponding to the previous recruitment plan cannot be realized in one or two quarters, for companies, a wise choice must not be recruited.

For example, a hosting training institution had originally planned to open a new chain school in another city this year, and planned to recruit a certain number of students, teachers and principals.

Even if we recruit people now, the new school may not be open.

The second thing to comb through is the recruitment and onboarding process.

Affected by the epidemic, many companies have begun working remotely. It will take some time for them to turn normal offline testing and on-boarding processes into online counterparts and obtain permission.

Connie said that the HR of major Internet companies in her circle of friends are still hiring, and the number of LinkedIn positions is increasing, but the on-boarding and leaving processes may be delayed or changed, and some will temporarily stop until Re-enter after everything is restored.

Be patient, this year’s peak recruitment period may be delayed, but it will still come.

2. Lost some posts and also created new opportunities

I usually want to change a job, and I need to sneak a resume, and I want to take a leave for an interview.

No work during this period is the best time to research recruitment sites and favorite companies. With an interview, you can first contact online to see.

The offline job fair is definitely gone, so go online and search for more information.

People who do n’t plan to change jobs can also take this opportunity to explore flexible employment methods.

For example, people with good English try translation, write well and try writing submission, and try online education as a teacher.

Some companies also create such positions. For example, a project requires three shifts temporarily, but only two groups of programmers, some short-term employees, and only three to six months of contract.

After the epidemic, the industries most affected are tourism, catering, retail, manufacturing, and offline entertainment.

The physical factory is also the front line of life and death.

A boss calculates a book, 400 employees, an average monthly salary of 5,000, a monthly salary of 2 million, a rent of 1.3 million, a loss of 200,000 hydropower, a tax of 500,000, and 1 million goods that are past the shelf life.

A month of downtime costs 5 million.

On the other hand, those companies that have a strong business abroad have suffered relatively little.

Instead of being hit hard, the Internet industry has also ushered in new growth points.

The advantages of remote office software such as flying books, nails, etc. are immediately highlighted, and even the use of drones has also broken through.

Joyce said, “I was very impressed by the drones patrolling over the traffic flow of parking fees at inter-provincial toll booths, showing the payment QR code and the inspection materials that need to be prepared.”

She suggested that if you stay at home, One is to Proactively find opportunities and let them find you.

The second is to keep an open mind on the flexible employment method.

If you have n’t found a job for three to six months, you may be out of touch with society.

“Kung Fu practice will not be out of date.”

3. What should I do? In fact, you have been competing with the same people all your life

Joyce told a story around her:

I graduated from university in 2001. Now, those years are at a stage when China’s economy is poised for growth, and university enrollment has not been fully expanded, and the employment situation is good.

Chat with A, a postgraduate student who decided to study in Beijing Post. He said that the whole class has basically gone to mobile telecommunications, and there are many opportunities for foreign companies.

Graduation is so good, there are definitely more opportunities for another graduate student.

As a result, atypical pneumonia occurred when he graduated from graduate school in 2003. He had few options at once, let alone China Mobile, and it is difficult for any small telecommunications company to have a satisfactory offer.

A’s choice at the time was to continue reading the blog.

A few years later, the economy has resumed, and the peaks and turns have gone to China Mobile.

A is now lamenting that he has n’t felt much behind his undergraduate in his nearly 20-year career. On the contrary, his solid level of scientific research and high education have made him go faster in many opportunities for internal promotion.

That’s why Joyce advises everyone while looking for opportunities, talk to seniors more.

The current predicament, on the long scale of life, is not necessarily a bad thing.

In addition to employment, fresh graduates can also consider postgraduate entrance examinations, postgraduate entrance examinations, civil service examinations, or study abroad, and even design a distinctive gap year to pursue and experience what they really love.

Many companies are not strict about whether they are the current requirements when recruiting, and the valuable gap year may also be the highlight of your resume.

Joyce says:

Graduates have such a law. Starting from the year you entered the school, whether you are studying for a job or taking a job, your life is actually competing with people from the same term.

The general environment in historical events is fair to everyone. The difference is each person’s choices, how to break the game at high and low points, how to keep learning, and take every step solidly.

4. What should I do if I want to change jobs? Do n’t talk naked, but pursue long-term value

It’s not that you shouldn’t be able to change your job during unusual times, but you should do this workplace choice problem rationally.

The reason why many people want to change jobs is very simple: they have less money, they can’t rise, and even the boss’s disobedience can be the reason for leaving.

Connie said that as a HR, the candidate ’s loyalty is actually valued.

“Many candidates have really had a good experience. But when asked why they leave, the answer is always inconsistent with someone, or aggrieved, etc. It is actually a very bad answer. Working in an enterprise, persistence is still an important quality. “

Joyce mentioned the concepts of short-term value and long-term value .

People who pursue short-term value, because of money or promotion opportunities, are likely to jump from one pit to another, or even worse.

So we encourage everyone to pursue long-term value.

In a nutshell, just want to clear these before jumping:

What does my industry look like?

What is the most uncomfortable thing about this company now? What can I do and what can I do in these situations that I cannot accept, and how can I avoid falling into similar situations again?

What is the industry background and team background of your next job? Is this company a speculator who is pursuing long-term business value instead of a vent?

Is there a fundamental difference between the development direction of the next enterprise and your current development direction in terms of track, stability, and growth?

But then again, changing jobs may not be that easy due to the epidemic.

“Obviously it won’t be easy to find a job in the short term unless your skills are particularly needed by a company,” Joyce said.

Except for regular posts that have a high probability of being postponed, middle-level and senior-level positions recruited in this state are actually very demanding.

Joyce suggests:

For senior executives, companies must have high expectations for this position in extraordinary times. He / she can come to break the game, improve the overall competition pattern, or should lead some new directions. Think about whether you really have the ability to go to PK.

Finally, don’t say anything naked.

Write at the end

What kind of mentality do you and I have in a special period?

Twenty years ago, when I was looking for a job, I was half-free and half-distributed, and those with high grades were able to win places in Beijing. Being able to go to foreign companies was the best offer of that era. Others will make overall distribution and return to the large enterprises in the system.

“Now? The other way around. Enterprises in the state-owned system are rushing in.”

This example is to illustrate, It is almost impossible for ordinary people in the workplace to make choices that can see through the next few decades.

So confused is normal.

But the confused antidote is also very simple, that is, know what is something you deeply love and believe in, and do it.

Because of dreams, always hope.

The same is true of this epidemic. Connie looked at the degree of economic recovery and growth after SARS and found that it was actually very fast.

May we all hold that expectation and wait for spring to bloom.
