The Korean MBC TV documentary “Meet You” tells the story of a technical team using an 8-month-old VR (virtual reality) system to help a mother meet her deceased daughter Very touching.

According to the South Korean news agency, the documentary’s heroine is Zhang Zhixing. One day three years ago, her 7-year-old daughter Na Yan suddenly began to have fever. Zhang Zhixing initially thought it was a common cold, but did not expect her daughter to have a rare disease, blood cancer. Just one month after the onset of symptoms, Na Yan died.

Since then, Zhang Zhixing never walked out of the haze of grief.

Fortunately, a VR production company in South Korea, after learning of this, sent the company’s best technicians to cooperate with Zhang Zhixing to make the mother and daughter meet again in the virtual world.

The company collected photos of her daughter from Zhang Zhixing, voice and other data, and also looked for similar children throughout the country to play VR actors, imitating every move of Na Yan’s life, and finally produced a short film of Na Yan reuniting with her mother .

When Zhang Zhixing put on a VR helmet and saw his daughter Na Yan, who was sorrowful, she cried on the spot.

Zhang Zhixing was stroking her virtual Nayan while telling her mother what she missed her daughter:

“Mom, where have you been? Mom, do you miss me?”

“Mom wants to touch Nayeon”

“Mom misses you every day.”

“Nayan, are you okay? Mother misses Nayan so much!”

“Mom, I want to hug Nayan …”

It is a bit regrettable that Zhang Zhixing can only see the image of her daughter and hear her voice, but cannot touch and hug. This may be to let Zhang Zhixing understand that there is still a difference between virtual and reality.

Then, Na Yan gave a flower and said she would never get sick again, comforting Zhang Zhixing, who had been crying. After the mother calmed down a little, she called her to high-five with her, and flew to another garden with Zhang Zhixing.

Nayan took her mother to a picnic site with snacks and a birthday cake.

It turned out that during the interview with Zhang Zhixing, the production team found that Na Yan ’s favorite party was snacking. Zhang Zhixing had promised to take Na Yan to picnic whenever Na Yan recovered from the hospital

Now, in this virtual scene, Zhang Zhixing finally fulfilled his promise and made Na Yan a birthday. At the end, Zhang Zhixing coaxed her daughter to sleep and watched her leave as a beam of light.
