“Look, is the ambulance in Zhongxiang City in front of you?” a volunteer shouted.

Qin Xiaoping, who is worrying about the transportation of materials, looks in the direction of the volunteers. The body has the logo of the emergency center in Zhongxiang City, Hubei Province. “Quickly, catch up with the car and let them take the supplies back.” Qin Xiaoping said to the driver quickly.

After two kilometers of chasing, Qin Xiaoping “intercepted” the ambulance at Zhongxiang Emergency Center and handed over 8 cases of surgical gowns and 6 cases of isolation gowns to the other side.

“Material supplies of all major hospitals in Jingmen City are in short supply, and we can only share the materials donated by all parties to each hospital.” Qin Xiaoping said.

The sudden outbreak has left all parties at a loss. The city of Wuhan, which is the source of the epidemic, first became the focus of attention of all parties, and medical supplies such as masks and protective clothing donated by all parties also flowed. Constantly pouring into Wuhan.

The other cities in Hubei that have been declared closed have faced even more severe situations. Backward medical conditions and inability to secure supplies have exposed many medical staff to the risk of contracting the virus.

How do I get supplies in?

Wireless Insight recently interviewed a group of volunteers who gathered spontaneously. Their material transportation plan is called the “burning lamp plan”, and they broke through various obstacles, The material resources are continuously transported into the epidemic area.

Some of the members of this volunteer team are members of the Blue Sky Rescue Team who have provided volunteer services for a long time, some of them are civil servants, self-employed individuals, etc. who have never experienced volunteer service, and some have joined the volunteer team without their family members.

This group of ordinary people gathered temporarily became the ferry between the hospital and the supplies.

Now that the epidemic situation has gradually improved, some of these volunteers still rush to transport supplies in the front line, and some of them have been self-isolated at home because they have been to Wuhan to transport supplies.

1. Day and Night Trip

On January 27, Qin Xiaoping, chairman of Jingmen City Cultural and Sports Volunteers Association, introduced a friend to the Charity Community of the Lantern Project to deliver materials to Hubei Dixian Hospital through a friend’s introduction. Docking of materials and transportation in Jingmen City.

The Burning Lamp Public Welfare Community (hereinafter referred to as the Burning Lamp Program) is a temporary information docking platform, which mainly provides medical material docking assistance for Hubei Di County Hospital. All materials are donated by enterprises and volunteered by the Burning Lamp Program. Those responsible were transported to hospitals in counties and counties in Hubei. During the period after the outbreak, this plan was difficult but efficient.

“There are medical supplies in Qianjiang City, Hubei Province, and vehicles need to be transported back to Jingmen City.” After receiving the materials information of the Burning Lamp Program, Qin Xiaoping posted a message in the association group for help.

After waiting for a while, but no one responded to the news, Qin Xiaoping was anxious. On the one hand, if the materials could not be retrieved in time in Jingmen City, it would probably be transferred to other counties and cities, and then I do n’t know how long to wait. On the other hand, very few people are willing to run outside for transportation, after all, that means an increased chance of being infected.

As soon as Qin Xiaoping was upset, Chen Zhijun saw the news of this material transportation. At this time, he was more than 200 kilometers away from Jingmen City, and was celebrating Chinese New Year at the mother-in-law’s house in Honghu City.

“After I learned about the burning lamp plan, I knew that the transportation of materials was a problem at the moment.” Chen Zhijun told Connected Insight, “I am a member of the rescue team of the blue sky. I often participate in rescue activities. Later, I started shipping supplies for Jingmen. “

Pass issued by the Red Cross, pictures from interviewees

On January 30, Chen Zhijun got the electronic pass issued by the Red Cross Society of Jingmen City, and set off on the journey to Qianjiang City to collect supplies.

Almost at the same time, Fang Fang, a member of the Burning Lamp Program in Enshi City Hospital, also encountered difficulties in transportation of materials. “The materials donated by various parties are many, and the vehicles of the government and hospitals are not enough. We have also voluntarily set up a convoy to help deliver materials.” Fang Fang said.

Fortunately, after Fang Fang released the news of recruiting volunteer drivers, two or thirty people signed up for it within an hour, covering various cars such as ordinary cars, off-road vehicles, trucks, etc.

“At present, we have twenty or thirty vehicles on standby. Once we receive news of supplies, whoever has the time and license plates are not restricted, whoever will deliver the supplies.” Fang Fang said.

However, the vehicles of non-governmental organizations are still unable to meet the mass of transportation materials. For this reason, some volunteer drivers are often in a state of continuous rotation.

Chen Zhijun has been working for seven or eight consecutive days since he started delivering supplies on January 30. He has been transporting supplies for both the Blue Sky Rescue Team and the Burning Lamp Program, which has made him more busy than the average volunteer driver.

He told Connected Insight that sometimes two civil organizations happened to dispatch transportation missions at the same time. The supplies of one party can only be transported the next time or the next day.

“At this very unusual time, the risk of transporting supplies is very high, so I dare not easily ask other teammates to transport with me, and I dare not open this mouth.” Chen Zhijun said.

However, without Chen Zhijun speaking, many people in the Blue Sky Rescue Team have joined various volunteer services. “There are also some team members who have gone to Wuhan to volunteer.” Chen Zhijun said.

At present, with the cooperation of all parties, transportation lanes to counties and cities in Hubei Province have been opened one after another, and the drivers of voluntary convoys have begun to deliver goods day and night.

2. Materials must be “robbed”, so also have to wait

On February 22, at a press conference held by the Hubei Provincial New Crown Pneumonia Epidemic Prevention and Control Headquarters, Deputy Governor Cao Guangjing revealed that the supply of medical supplies in Hubei has improved, but the contradiction between supply and demand is still prominent.

Although a steady stream of materials is being gathered from various parties to Hubei Province, medical supplies are still in short supply throughout Hubei Province.

To this end, the city leaders of the Lantern Project are fighting for as much material as possible for their respective cities.

“Each batch of supplies is very scarce, so we have someone responsible for ‘grabbing’ supplies on the front line and trying to get more back to the rear hospital.” Fang Fang said.

In the WeChat group of the Enshi group of the Lantern Project, the person in charge of the materials ahead will ask the local volunteers which materials they need, and then strive for the largest number of them.

Fang Fang Xianglian Insight said that usually volunteers will count what materials and quantities are missing in hospitals in the city. The information is then reported to the personnel of the Burning Lamp Coordination and Distribution Co., Ltd., and will be allocated according to the situation.

“We can’t fully meet the material requirements put forward by the hospital. We can only allocate a little to each hospital in the city every time how much material we get back.” Fang Fang said.

When supplies are really tight, volunteers from all over the world will help other cities to transport donated supplies, so as to win some additional supplies for the city’s hospitals.

Due to the impact of the closure of the city, private vehicles in some cities in Hubei Province are unable to obtain passes. For this purpose, material transportation often depends on volunteers from other counties and cities. Chen Zhijun ’s volunteer team in the Jingmen City Lantern Project has helped other cities to transport Medical supplies.

“Jingmen City originally did not allocate this batch of medical supplies, because other cities did not have cars to pull goods back, so the person in charge asked us to pull them back, so that we could get some medical supplies from other cities.” Chen Zhijun said .

In this way, Chen Zhijun again drove to Qianjiang City to pick up the goods, and retrieved the materials from Jingzhou, Enshi and Jingmen in one go. “After getting the goods, we first sent them to Jingzhou before leaving the rest. Of medical supplies were shipped back to Jingmen. “

That night, after Chen Zhijun shipped the medical supplies to Jingmen City, the volunteer team in Enshi City did not delay and sent the car to pick up the goods overnight.

In the whole process of transporting medical supplies, volunteers who transported supplies, in addition to “grabbing” supplies, are waiting for more supplies to be shipped.

In the early days after the cities and counties of Hubei Province were closed, it was difficult for the donated materials outside the province to be delivered to the front line. For this reason, some donors contacted the enterprises that produce medical supplies in Hubei Province and purchased the materials directly and delivered them to the front line.

However, related enterprises in Hubei Province that produce medical supplies have already been requisitioned by the government. Even if they have not been requisitioned for a while, the medical supplies produced every day are pulled out of production and there is no surplus.

“I went to the same factory several times to pull the goods. I said that I had to wait for an hour or two, or even half a day.” Chen Zhijun said, “It may be that the goods in the factory are really tight, or it may be necessary to leave the factory Process, after all, medical supplies. “

On one occasion, Chen Zhijun stopped by a school in Jingmen City to pick up the goods. A box of masks waited for an hour before getting it. “Now no matter how much goods are sold, even a box of masks will be pulled back.”

3. Rough Transportation Road

Intersection closure is the biggest obstacle to material transportation.

In order to go to Wuhan to get donated materials, volunteer Li Guangming has circled several times in Jingmen City and found that most intersections are closed, which directly affects the efficiency of transportation materials.

“We don’t know which intersection is not closed. If we encounter a closed intersection, we can only ask the staff on duty, which checkpoint can pass.” Li Guangming said.

When it finally finds a passable road, when approaching the urban area of Wuhan, Li Guangming needs to get off the expressway in advance and enter Wuhan through other roads. In the urban area, he also needs to bypass various closed points.

Tossing back and forth, not only needs to run a hundred kilometers, but also wastes a lot of time. In order to save time, Li Guangming and his companions did not stop on the road except for refueling. They were hungry and drank some dry food. Once they got the goods, they drove back.

Because of the pass issued by the Jingmen Red Cross, Li Guangming was not blocked during the transportation of the supplies, and the journey was smooth. And some vehicles that do not have a Red Cross pass, even if they are transporting medical supplies, are still hindered during transport.

“We have a member of the Blue Sky Rescue Team who transported the supplies back in the middle of the night. Since the pass belongs to the Blue Sky Rescue Team, not the Red Cross, they were questioned by the staff on duty when they passed the checkpoint.” Chen Zhijun said.

He said that some people did not know the rescue team of the blue sky, which led him to disagree with non-governmental organizations. They believed that non-governmental organizations could not pass by casually, and even questioned that the rescue team made money by transporting supplies.

“We all bought our own masks. How can we not understand when we help transport the materials to the hospital?” Chen Zhijun grumbled for the team members.

Fortunately, after some explanations from the team members, after a delay of a few minutes, the officers on duty passed the pass.

However, in the process of transporting materials, the difficulties are much more than that. The asymmetry of information also leads to the consumption of human and material resources.

Chen Zhijun had received the task of pulling 84 disinfectant back to Jingmen City during the transportation of goods for many times. On the same day, he went to Xiangyang to pull a full bucket of 84 disinfectant and drove for 5 hours. After returning to Jingmen City, it was found that there was a shipment in Jingmen City that needed to be pulled to Xiangyang City.

To this end, he can only pull in supplies and drive to Xiangyang City. “If the information can be matched in time, I’ll just take a trip.” Chen Zhijun said.

Half a month after leaving home, Chen Zhijun’s family discovered that he was in the process of transporting supplies, and immediately objected, asking him to stay at his home in Jingmen City and not allow him to transport supplies.

“I didn’t dare to tell the truth to my family when I came out, I kept hiding them, but I couldn’t hide them, so I just promised my family to rest at home for one day.” Chen Zhijun said.

He told Connected Insight that he was also afraid of being infected and infecting his family. There were old and young people in the family. If he fell down, no one would care about the elderly and children.

However, he also said that very few people are willing to come out to transport supplies, and now his vehicle has issued a pass, and he feels guilty not to go out to transport supplies.

After a day of rest at home, Chen Zhijun went out to transport supplies.

At present, the situation in various counties and cities in Hubei Province is gradually improving. In this epidemic, the efforts made by these ordinary people should be seen and deserved to be seen.
