It’s not just graduates, it’s not just 2020.

On the day he moved into the isolation ward, Su Qi received the letter of termination from the law firm.

If it hadn’t been for the epidemic, she should have become a lawyer after graduating in the summer. In order to obtain the work of this top domestic law firm, Su Qi practiced for 9 months in a row here, “continuously working from 9 am to 8 pm” every day, and finally signed a tripartite employment agreement with the law firm. She had thought that this offer would never go wrong.

But the deal came too late. On the third day of the new year, Su Qi was admitted to an isolation ward by herself because of coughing and fever and other suspected symptoms. The fever was intermittent and the medication was not good. She was so scared to die. I did not expect the law firm’s letter of termination to have been sent to her Outlook mailbox at that time: “Whether new job recruitment continues this year depends on business and economic development. If the economic situation deteriorates, we will stop recruiting new graduates for one year. Protect the work of existing employees. “

“This makes me feel better than taking any medicine,” Su Qi told, and she was still in isolation and had to cheer up again. There is no computer in the isolation ward, so she can’t find another job and has to slow down, but she comforts herself that the demand for legal services will not be so strong in the short term.

“As a 2020 graduate, Qiu Zhao catches up with the Great Depression of Internet layoffs, and spring recruits catch up with the new crown epidemic. No one is worse than us.” Wen Hui said.

Wen Hui will graduate from Sichuan University this year. During the autumn recruitment, she delivered more than 50 companies. Of the 4 offers, except for a Shanghai company, the salary was not very satisfactory. When Chunzhao found that there were only a few companies that could actually deliver, Tencent, Netease, Kuaishou, and vivo all voted, but the position was visible to the naked eye by three-quarters.

Except for the evaluation emails that the system automatically responds to after delivery, there is no message at other times. Wen Hui told me that only four of the four in the bedroom had an Internet offer with another roommate, and the other two roommates came ashore by a civil servant.

“Just go to the recruitment official websites of major companies to see that the opportunities are slim and HC is scarce.” Wen Hui said that after the baptism of Qiu Zhao, she has learned a lot about the routine, and many companies have announced that HC has moisture. . She had an internship at a leading Internet company in Hangzhou. Taking her internship company as an example, despite the announcement of 10 HCs, there are actually only two places.

In fact, in addition to the crit of breach of contract and contraction, the epidemic is subverting the employment concept of this graduate.Dong Jing said that last autumn she wanted to try to apply for a film and entertainment company and even went to the agent qualification certificate. However, this year’s epidemic caused the theater line to shut down and the variety crew to stop working. “I suddenly felt that the industry was actually very fragile and had a new look.” She said.

Wen Hui rejected the offer from one of the hottest new car companies right now. Although her salary was good, Wen Hui felt that she had lost money for many years, and she had laid off her staff a lot after the epidemic. The industry comment made her unable to join the job with peace of mind. “I am afraid that employment means unemployment.”

Fresh student Su Meng told a good state-owned company to call her and invite her to go to the end again. This company was not in her consideration. “To be honest, after this epidemic saw a large number of layoffs and pay cuts in private companies, there will be an urge to go to a more secure” China “prefix state-owned enterprises, she said.

Several sets of numbers can quantify all these cruelties. Official data show that there will be 8.74 million fresh college graduates in 2020, an increase of about 400,000. Although the number of fresh students has increased every year in the last five years, the increase has been around 120,000 in previous years, and this year has the largest increase. In addition, the number of candidates for postgraduate entrance examinations is also increasing. From the number of applicants and admission ratios, it is estimated that there are still about 2.6 million students failing to take the entrance examination.

Sun Ling, director of the Campus Division of Zhilian Recruitment, told him that he and his team performed more than 8,000 offline job fairs last autumn, and there were more than 2,000 spring recruits in previous years. “This means that many students who have failed the postgraduate entrance examinations have not attended job fairs. Not only are they left blank about the job search, isolation at home, unable to return to school, or internships will all increase their panic.

According to the 2020 “Spring Employment Employment Tracking Report” from the direct employment of BOSS, the demand for fresh graduates in 2020 decreased by 44% compared with the same period in 2019 in the third week after the Spring Festival. The contraction was 52%. Although the demand for freshmen is gradually recovering, the scale of recruitment is still obviously insufficient.

It’s not just freshmen who are furious, but companies seem helpless. HR Xia Yu, a U.S. listed company, revealed that after the resumption of the Spring Festival, due to the adjustment of the company’s structure, she had to re-communicate with her intern on job planning, but most people rejected her, and some even gave up the offer. Xia Yu felt helpless. This was a routine communication, but “everyone is in danger now, and a little wind and grass will be magnified infinitely.” She said that these young people have chosen the opposite side of the company too hastily.

It is clear that there is no winner under anxiety. A HR who has been in the business for more than ten years tells that it is the most complex and pessimistic year in the recruitment market he has experienced. The curtain of Spring Recruitment has not been delayed, and the two sides of the game are no longer a large freshmen group and a volatile enterprise. There are still too many variables that make this year full of uncertainty.
