There is a village called Karst Cave in a mountainous area in Yuexian County. One day last fall, Wu Tairuo, a villager in Karst Cave Village, died of illness. Wu Tairuo was an only child. His father died very early. His mother killed him. Pulling big, because his family has always been poor, he has not married a daughter-in-law at 44. Wu Tairuo is a filial son. He dedicated his best to choose a good geomantic land for his dead mother by the side of a hill. His body was buried there, but he did not expect that there was already a tomb in that place, and it was not an ordinary one.

This morning, Wu Tairuo was alone, digging a burial pit in the place he chose for his deceased mother. He dug for more than a long time, and it was almost evening when the burial pit was almost dug. When he was about to stop, the shovel in his hand suddenly touched a very hard object. He jabbed it hard, which felt like a slate, so he shoveled away the soil above, revealing the bottom of the pit. With a flat stone surface, he thought: God helped me, it must be good to bury the body of the old mother here! But he thought again: Okay, good, but how could this ground be caused by such a flat stone slab? Could it be that there was something buried underneath that couldn’t be achieved, thinking of this, he decided to dig to see clearly.

In this way, he finally dug out one side of this stone slab. This side was more than five feet long and two or three inches thick. He wondered if it was an ancient tomb below! Who will be buried inside? At this time, Wu Tairuo felt exhausted, so he decided to go home and eat something to rest, then come back to dig at night. When I got home, I took out a half bottle of white wine and drank it slowly to warm up my body and strengthen my courage. He drank and pondered: If it is an ancient tomb, there may be valuable things in it. Even ordinary folk tombs in ancient times may have unexpected discoveries. If it is a folk tomb, simply bury the mother’s body in it. After eating something, he decided to open the slate overnight to see what was underneath. He lit the fuel lamp and held it in his hand. Before leaving, he went to the room where his mother’s body was placed and took a look. He saw his mother’s body lying on the ground bed, under the dim light, it looked like it was sleeping.

After reading it, Wu Tairuo, regardless of his fatigue, went straight to the hill outside the village. He put the oil lamp on the ground and dug along the edge of the flagstone. stand up. After several hours, the slate was finally opened by him. Upon closer inspection, it turned out that this was a sarcophagus, and it was empty inside. Wu Tairuo wondered about this sarcophagus: why is it empty? He cautiously jumped in and observed the inside of the coffin carefully. There was indeed nothing. He wondered: Who buried such an empty sarcophagus underground? He couldn’t think of a clue, Wu Tairuo, who was exhausted, simply sat in the sarcophagus to rest.

He rested for a while, and suddenly he seemed to hear someone shouting: Son, come back. He heard his mother’s voice. Wu Tairuo thought: maybe he is oldThe mother’s soul was waiting, so he called him and had to go back quickly. Thinking of this, he hurriedly got up and climbed out of the sarcophagus to the ground, illuminating the sarcophagus in the pit with an oil lamp, and then pondered for a while, and finally decided to put his mother’s body in it, which is considered to be his best filial piety.

He walked back with an oil lamp, ready to bring his mother’s body. Just a few steps after he walked, the flame in the lampshade suddenly jumped. He thought it was the wind and hurriedly covered it with his body, but it didn’t work, the oil lamp went out with a ‘pop’.

Wu Tairuo didn’t feel the wind while standing there. He felt so strange that there was no wind, and the oil was newly added. How could the flame go out suddenly? Could it be that his actions offended the undead?

Thinking about this, he couldn’t help feeling a little hairy. He wanted to walk away quickly, but his legs became heavier. At this moment, he heard something unusual behind him. When the movement was silent, he turned his head violently, and was shocked to find that from the empty underground sarcophagus he dug out, a figure of a woman with disheveled hair emerged. I saw that figure slowly drilled out of the ground, leaping backwards towards him, and making a deep and weird sound. The frightened Wu Tairuo backed away several steps with cold hands and feet, and he whispered to himself: There is a ghost! Then he threw away the oil lamp, turned around and ran.

He ran into his home in one go. After entering the house, he quickly closed the door. After he gasped for a while, he felt a pain in his leg. He looked down, oops! There is blood on the leg! It turned out that because he was too panic and ran too fast, and it was in the dark night, he did not remember after falling several times. Wu Tairuo calmed down and entered another house. He knelt beside his mother’s body and said with tears. : Mother, your son is very poor and has no money to give you a thick burial, but I found a good place for you, there is an empty sarcophagus, I am going to bury you in it, but-when it comes to this, he replied worriedly He turned his head and glanced, and then said with a trembling voice: But, the ghosts there seemed to prevent me from burying you there, and Wu Tairuo shed tears as he spoke.
