SAIC Volkswagen Anting New Energy Plant is the first MEB plant built by Volkswagen Group in the world and the first MEB platform factory in China. The MEB platform is a modular platform developed by the Volkswagen Group specifically for the production of pure electric vehicles. The first ID. car on the line is a pure electric mid-size SUV based on the MEB platform. According to SAIC Volkswagen, this will be the first ID. family model to be put into production in the future. It is expected to be officially unveiled in the second half of 2020.
In the future, the Volkswagen ID. family will introduce models in China that include pure electric SUVs, pure electric crossovers, and pure electric hatchbacks.
