Tencent’s internal test “friends” is aimed at social interaction of half-acquaintances. This social relationship is mainly based on alumni or colleague relationships to expand. This is the fourth new social product launched by Tencent in the past month.

In the second half of 2019, Tencent’s new actions on social products are frequent. “New Business Intelligence” found that Tencent has begun beta testing of a new social product-friends.

From the version of the current internal test, friends are mainly for the social interaction of semi-acquaintances. This social relationship is mainly based on the relationship of alumni or colleagues. In addition to the basic personal information page, it currently has 4 functional sections: “Meet”, “Circle”, Post Status, and “Chat”. Invitation codes are required to add friends. Its product form has been improved on the basis of Friends Network, similar to the campus social App Summer.

When the app is opened, the first page displayed by default is “Meet”. On this page, the system will recommend new friends for users based on their identities and hobbies. This feature is only available to users who have completed personal information and identity verification. During the identity verification process, the user needs to upload the student ID, graduation certificate, employment certificate or badge to ensure the validity of the identity. In addition, users need their real names to complete their identity review. From the internal beta version we have experienced, at present it has only opened certification for some large companies.

Tencent restarts

After adding a friend, users can see the new status sent by the friend on the “Circles” page. The way of displaying pictures and texts is similar to that of photo social products Oasis and Instagram. In this screen, “Circle” highlights the status display of friends. It distinguishes the status of the area in the information flow, and separates into two separate status display areas: “same company / same school” and “same city” to help users clearly browse the latest developments of alumni, colleagues or friends, and encourage users to contact acquaintance,
